Here I am

Mach 4s in, DD2s out-- pretty impressed!

Who wants 50% better diesel milage?

Anybody running a HTT Sled Puller 66 on a HOT 12V

I can't believe it. There's simply no way a 150hp injectors can be easily street driven, right? They smoke like nuts, right?

Well, the most amazing thing with the Mach 4s over the DD2s is the smoke threshold. I could drive my DD2 smokelessly, but it took a little concentration.

With the Mach 4s, you can accelerate normally without worry about smoke! Granted, your "normal" will a little quicker after putting them in, but smokeless acceleration is easily achieved.

That said, they WILL smoke if you want! LOTS OF IT! Just mash it at too- low rpm and you can almost put the fire out.

These are JUST what I was looking for smoke-wise-- *I* control the smoke. The throttle is more sensitive (of course), but it's about the same as the 75hp injectors with an EZ set on most aggressive. I have NO other fueling mods at this point (sold the box).

So, I'm testing them with JUST the M4s, no box, no boost fooler, no nothing. Well, nothing besides my super-duper PowerCore BHAF:)

At steady cruise, EGT is about 50-100 degrees cooler. Get into the pedal, and they race higher-- very quickly. But I can still get up to 70mph before the temps hit 1400.

Some other notes:

-- boost is limited to the stock 21psi, so my results are based on that (WG is NOT blocked).

-- MPG was 20. 5 based on a 130 mile hwy jaunt with LOTS of hot rodding and mostly WOT stuff. It appears these will net better mpg over then honed sticks. Same conditions with previous sticks got me about 18. 5mpg.

-- Again, truck is setup with NO power chip or boost fooler at this point. (I'm between electronic bombs after selling the EZ and saving for/stewing on what's next)

-- My altitude here is 6000+ feet! Yes, they have fullY controllable smoke AT ALTITUDE.

-- Any hint of lag past 10psi or so is gone--- response is instantaneous. Lotsa fun on the hwy.

These sticks should take me as far as my HO pump will let me go. They should be the last set I ever buy!

Don M and Bob Wagner, thanks for being patient with me! Don, these are the best streetable sticks I have ever seen! LOVE THEM!

Justin

Glad to see you like your latest bomb! Your findings are directly in line with mine. They produce great power, with low smoke, and no driveability problems.

I wanted to take a passenger for a ride down the 1/4 mile at Mission, B. C. last weekend. The problem is that NHRA doesn't allow passengers quicker then 14 seconds. I turned the comp box off, and made a pass on injectors only and ran a 15. 05. Pretty darn good. My passenger thought so too! Of course shifting your six speed you might be just a hair slower... :)

For those that haven't seen, here's the OEM Bosch nozzle design. These are the old DD2s.

This is Don's EDM design. Stockers are 7 holes, Don's are 8. Note the sac hole design, which enhances tip strength.

Hohn, what did you pay for your Mach 4 sticks? I'm interested in buying some 3's or 4's soon. Also, do you think you get a true 150hp? At the wheels or crank? Thanks Clay

All Don's injectors are rated based on Dynojet numbers. They are baselined on an SO truck, so HO's may make a hair more HP.

In my case, I'm seeing a lot more power, but not the full potential of these sticks. First, I don't have a bigger turbo. Second, I don't have a power "box" at the moment.

So, with tapped wire and a bigger charger, these sticks can go to 525+hp.

On my truck in present form, they are probably making around 370. I dynoed 350 and 390 with the old sticks and an EZ, and these injectors alone feel quite a bit stronger than that combo.

Congrats Hohn :) ,i 'm looking for some bigger sticks too, eyeing the 4's but i am a little cautious about temps and smoke. With my 6 speed i can turn day into night if i mash it with the mach1. 5's and the Catcher so who know what size to go with, either 2. 5 or 4's  . I do tow about a 7500lbs travel trailer thought the Canadian rockies from time to time so temps will concern me a bit. All i am looking for is the upper max/usable/safe power that i can tow with and that it ;) (for now). The truck is running great and i have to really get on it to hit 1200pre,the B1-2 tow works well for me. Keep us posted about the new sticks and how they work out once you get some more miles on them. Thanks for the info-----DW

I too am seriously considering going from the DD2's to the Mach4's, Does anyone on here have a similar setup to me, and running the Mach4's? What kind of EGT's can you hit?

Hohn, yes they are very streetable. I'm using mine with my DDTTPM on timing only mode. I read enough on here about guys getting smaller injectors and then moving on up, I figured I'd just start w/ 4's and I'm really happy I did.

Graphic Man, I did a trip this past weekend to check my mileage, and while I've got a 3500 QC 4x4 (6spd w/3. 54's), my mileage didn't change but maybe 1 mpg. I did pay close attention to the egts, keeping them at 900 (pre turbo) or less while climbing hills. On the trip out 17. 84 mpg, 75-80 mph, a/c on max. On the trip home 17. 94, 75 mph max, a/c on max, each leg was 489 miles.

Didnt John Russin Buddha power do the rounded tip thing first?

Probably. But he never really messed with making a smaller injector. When I talked to him (over 2 years ago, mind you), his smallest injector made about 200hp. He didn't have anything that I considered streetable, and he agreed they were race-oriented sticks.

These 4s are a lot bigger than I ever thought I would be able to run, but so far they are PERFECTLY streetable. I see no reason why one could NOT run them. Heck, I have them in with a STOCK (albeit modded by me) turbo, NO BOOST FOOLER or anything-- so they are FAR from optimized, but they still work, and work well.

When I make up my mind about my fueling box, then I can explore more of the outer limits of the stock charger.

Like others have reported, these sticks are much "tamer" than I would have thought (except the power, that is).

There was never anything wrong with my DD2s, but now it's kinda like "How you gonna keep them down on the farm when they've seen Paris?"

Justin

Hohn, just wait until you add a box, your truck will feel like it has two motors in it!. I unplugged my mild puck one day to see if I could tell a difference. Could I ever!! It felt like I lost 100hp!

Anyone tried towing with these new sticks besides Bob Wagner, sorry,i don't want to drop the cash on them if they won't work when towing. Oh ya i'll have to convince the wiffey why i have to go from 1. 5 to 4's in less than a year---ouch.

F1 Mach Yee Haw!

Hey Justin,

I'm sure glad you got your new injectors in and are so pleased with them, I feel better now :D I considered the Mach 4s, but then decided to let you go first :-laf Seriously though, I'm building my infrastructure first and going for a more flexible power route with towing in mind. My SBC Con OFE and Mach 1. 6s should be here next week, and I'll be in Canada on business. That's Kamloops, BC to you, Mr. DWeiler, not quite beautiful Calgary :{

Cheers,

Neil

P. S. Hohn, my sympathy card for your clutch is in the mail ;)
