There has been much wisdom spouted on this thread about trying to keep up with things. I quit trying to keep up with compand digitial cameras and it is near impossible.

If you find something that fits your needs, but it and try to forget that they will come out with a bigger and better by the time you get it home.

And no matter what cars & trucks will never be as bad as consumer electronics (including computers, digital cameras, DVD players, etc. ) being superseeded and/or obsolete very quickly after the purchase

I don't feel the least bit slighted having "only" 305 HP & 555 lb of torque on my 03. :D The little "extra" on the new motor won't make an appreciable difference in the way it hauls the dirt or building materials I need, or pulling a car trailer. It's equipped exactly the way I wanted it, the dealer was fantastic about ordering and having the light package added to the order even though it became available AFTER the truck went D1. Honored the price protection, got me the best financing rate available. I knew the midyear 04's would have more emissions, and also figured that DC & Cummins would sweeten the power-pot to make the emissions medicine go down smoother.

Nobody makes a major issue when the electronics stuff (not just computers & dig cameras, but TV's & DVD players too!) is obsolete before you finish unpacking it and setting it up just right, so what is the big deal over a relatively small bump in power that as many have pointed out can be more than made up with a box???

Rob, Quit your dam whining, Dodge has 04 trucks to sell. They have no obligation to you to give you info before the truck is released. and as stated by other the difference is so minimal who cares. I bought my truck 4 weeks ago and got a great deal, I am glad I did because when the new truck is out pricing wont be so cheap they will be in demand.

I just wanted to point out I got a 7/70 powertrain warranty, does not include the ctd, that has a 3/100 seperate warranty. Did I miss out on something? Also I guess I paid too much, 38k out the door, 42k sticker. John

I didn't have to shell out $31k. That's why I'm so happy. I got my dang near totally loaded 4x2 SLT QC for $26,135

Shucks son, a 2500 2x4, why thats hardly even a pickup truck. :D Gawd, that'll loose the dogs o' war. Oo.

Sorry, Robbie couldn't resist the temptation. :p

The dodge website says 7/70. 100k is on the Cummins. My 02 was 7/100 and 100K on the Cummings.

Sorry gents wrong thread. I haven't complained once about any dams.

thats it, poke a stick in that snakepit, he he he.

Son, they are taking orders. You folks buying a pig-in-a-poke? wise move, your choice. DC indicated we would be in the know by Dec 10th. I patiently waited for DC to keep THEIR timeline.

Actually, the "bump" in hp/tq doesn't mean squat to me. However, I do covet the 5", manifold, turbo, "exhaust brake ready" upgrades. Greedy little boy wants ALL the marbles.

Serious bros, got an email that Charley forwarded my whine up the line. Now that I feel vindicated I will go lick my wounds. Please beat me, make me write bad checks, make me buy pickup trucks without da specs . :D

You all are 100% right. If am as happy with what ever truck I end up with as I have been with the past two - who me worry. chill, bro.

And another thing-they kept cost difference to $135, although my dealer tells me that the cab is also about $200 more. He also sells Chevrolets, and said the new Duramax was like $1300 more!

Hey Rob, I can't say I feel your pain. I'd be happy to be stuck (IMO) one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Anyway, feel free to vent, nothing wrong with exercising your rights. Saddle up and go for a trail ride, you'll feel better, but don't wake any of the grizzlies up there. ;)

My family still tells the story about Uncle Ugh--one of my mom's ancestors from about 12,000 years ago. He and his family almost starved to death after he heard about the new atlatl that was supposed to come out in mid-hunting season, and refused to knap any more stone points until he knew if they would be compatible with the new model. It was resolved in the usual way--his wives started withholding on him and between that and the hunger he finally caved in, worked up a few points and snagged some possums and squirrels, which helped them get through the winter. He ended up keeping those same stone points for 3 more seasons.

Hey TrailDog; go easy on the collies. :(

I write a lot of computer progams, and run a lot of them. Upgrade-itis is common amongst managers and executives. But a philosophy of mine has proven to be 100% correct --

"nothing is obsolete that serves it's purpose well"

Getting to the top of the hill doing 75mph instead of 74mph isn't a problem for me ;) ... . unless I'm making a statement against a Ford. Guess I'll have to get a box!

Great philosophy. My C/Ds have been such fantastic trucks that both times I've sold them I've had severe attacks of sellers remorse. Like DOH:--) Why did I go and sell a perfectly good truck.

I'm sure none of you have been guilty of trading in a truck which you couldn't sell to a private party with clear conscience. "Man I hope they don't catch the knocking wrist pin (Toyota SR5). Or, as soon as I get that crank kit in this POS (Chevy S10 blazer) is going on the block!. " Ever had a crank snap?

Contrarily, I would have sold my DCs to my grandma. But then she would have been out "smokin" folks.

I've made lists of the pros and cons to justify my tomfoolery and sauve my remorse stricken conscience. A while ago I print out the thread on this site and another D/C site from folks who have made the GEN 3 move. With few exceptions they have been as happy. I just need to be confident DC did just as good a job on the 04 which is arriving next week and accept my 02 is gone forever. . :) Man I'm glad I don't have anything important to worry about! Oo.
