Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Mad At The Mad Ecm

I wouldn't be surprised if my ECM is the same as Murle's... . truck built 02/00. Hope to get the DRBIII hooked up tommorrow to confirm.





Even if someone has already dynoed it (they have and posted results on DTR), who says they are obligated to share the results? Personally I'd take the "real world" results over a piece of paper but thats just me.

Ponder, what does that mean? What am I missing here? I trust u r just kidding. Dyno numbers don't mean everything. There is no conspiracy here. We, including Marco are laying all out on the line. As Marco stated, his Mad ECM is either for you or it's not. Your choice. You wanna race, cmon down to the Pacific NW. Whatcha got? Are your under 13 in the 1/4? Ifn u r, then you are hot.

It just seems weird, This must be the first product ever to come out that people absolutely dont want to dyno. Everyone else has to go by their feelings on it. Look at the way Murle got lit up just for posting he was having probs, that in itself showed the Blind following this has. 2vl-dsl said he wouldnt care if it only added 5 torque.



Dyno is really the only thing that will show where its adding and how much. RCONE> if you get a new guy fired up enough telling him he is a pioneer, "laying it on the line" You could send him a stock emc and he is going to rave about it, he thinks he is an astronaut.



Dont be so defensive about this catcher ECM, It might not even be better than a VA, You are just emotionally attached to it. A Dyno will cut through emotion and I think that is why everone who has this catcher ECM does not want it dynoed. If the graph comes back and a ez or Va adds more power everywhere then people will be upset and the ECM Poleece will arrest the Dyno Operator



So far as me racing, well lets put it like this, if there was a product that would lower my HP by 50 but give me 4 MPG then I'd want it!



I guess I will have to get one and DYNO, Of course the ECM Poleece might not let me have one

For the dyno thing, if you want dyno numbers, get a CaTCHER then you're free to play with a dyno as often as YOU want.



Looks like others don't care about dyno numbers, why do you bother them???

If you are able to find dyno numbers on the DTR I hope you share them here. I'm as curious as the next guy what the power curve looks like. I've run with both the EZ & the MAD CaTCHER. The EZ was good but it's obvious to me the CaTCHER is better. Milage figures are about the same. It's a little hard to get good figures there 'cuz after 1,000 miles I haven't gotten over the play factor & I'm still driving faster. I'm averaging 19 -20 mpg.

Dyno numbers were the same for catcher ECM and EZ but he did say that the ecm had more bottom power and would beat the ez as some have saids here. Incidentally it would be hard for a dyno to measure way down low. when we use A dyno jet we put it in 5th gear and have the engine rolling maybe 1200 RPM before you nail it to take a reading. This would nt measure say what the ecm would do at 800 rpm when you nail it.



Anyway to each his own, if I used cruis control I would probably just get an EZ but I use a throttle cable for cruise so the ECM is about like a EZ or VA in my opinion, course I've never drove with one so...



I just hope the ECM Poleeze dont come to my work

I intend to dyno once I get squared away. But I won't have anything to compare it to because I'll have my external wastegate installed, some smaller injectors and the MAD ECM (the orginal one will already be gone). I'm going to try and hit the track first before they close because, I don't care what it dynos at, I care what it does on the street and at the track. I'm not buying it to make more power, buying it to make the truck more fun to drive. Its been said many times by Marco himself this won't dyno with anymore power then a EZ or VA... ... .



I believe Bob Wagner has put up some sort of garentee if you get an ECM from him, I'm sure you could PM him and see what he has to say, that way if you get and you don't like it... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ??

Just called a couple of dealers about hookin up the DRBIII. I don't want to drive 30 miles(oneway) to the normal dealer I visit, so the first one I called and explained what I wanted to do... ... . "sure we can do that for $75". After I picked myself up off the floor I said no thanks, I'm not paying an hours labor for 15 secs work. 2nd call, talked to the guy and he said sure, asked him what he would charge he said "nothing" takes 2 seconds. Only problem is can't do it until tommorrow afternoon.

I just can't grasp what the problem is to understand this. Marco may not have shifted the curves upward, but he has increased the area under the curves, specifically targeting the left side (low rpm) which is what all these guys feel ... and is why they find their trucks more driveable. My hands are behind my back. :-laf

I have never ment to get people upset on this board. Like I have stated before I have not been upset at Marco or Doug for getting 2 bad ECM's. It is just that we are all learning here that there are a lot more different programs that anyone thought there were. You could say I was more disapointed than upset. Kind of like your wife saying you can buy a new Dodge truck and then changes her mind and wants a Ford because it looks sweetier. Gets you primed then dumps the bad news :{



My little joke about the Barbeque was all in fun and anyone from Texas will know that. If anyone remembers the way G W Bush looked and walked after he got off the plane in Washington after 9-11..... Now that was a TEXAS WHOOP SSA WALK. That was a upset TEXAN.



If there is any fault here it is mine for not getting the proper info to Doug and Marco. I just did not know how much or where to really get the info. But we know now that the best way is to get the ECM read by the DRBIII.
