KSmid,
The Mad ECM is not famous for it's additional horsepower, it is a program designed to increase the responsiveness of the 24 valve VP-44 equipped trucks. EPA guidelines have decreased the emissions standards for ALL diesel engines, and the electronic fuel pump on Dodge 98. 5 to 02 along with it's ECM program was designed to address this issue.
Our friend Marco thought (correctly) that this was all crap and has reprogrammed our ECMs for more sport like performance, NOT an increase in HP. The MAD ECM reflash is MUCH more than just timing.
It is THE 24 valve owner's BOMB.
RacinDuallie,
The MAD Special has no timing, or very little, this is proprietary information and Marco will take it to his grave with a grin on his face.
Since it has no timing, it will NOT 'feel' like an Edge product down in the lower rpm band. Edge products are famous for their TIMING and the fuel they add down low. Edge products offer a very satisfying 'seat of the pants' feeling when first driven.
They are a joke compared to the CaTCHER. I don't know why, only Marco does.
Advanced timing in a diesel is 'felt' more in the low gears, so think Edge products, the EZ, the Comp and the Drag, etc...
A pure fueling box only adds the famous double tap to the VP-44 fuel pulse.
NO timing. Now the ONLY box I'm sure has NO timing is the Blue Chip line.
I'm not sure about the Bank's Ottomind or the TST line, which are virtually the same thing.
The Edge Comp is famous because it has BOTH timing and full rpm spectrum fuel. IF one were to say CaTCHER AND Edge in the SAME sentence, make sure you finish the sentence with 'Special'
Edge Comp and the standard CaTCHER HATE each other, they bump the timing to high.
The standard CaTCHER would rather play with the Blue Chip FMS. Why? the Blue Chip has no timing! The standard CaTCHER does! They get along great!
The 'Special' CaTCHER LOVES the Edge Comp. Why? the Special has no timing! The Edge Comp, or EZ, does! One box brings the timing and one brings the fuel, see?
An Edge, Blue Chip and CaTCHER Stack? Sure, if it's a 'Special'.
The CaTCHER 'Special fuels to 3500 rpm, (I don't know about the Standard)
Is a CaTCHER Special, an Edge, and a Redline box (a Blue Chip product) better than an Edge Drag Comp?
Ask DHRA Super Street Puller Jeff Strothkamp!
