HELP SUPERCHIP/wont start

I'm all for revs. I run out of gear waaaay to soon. I'd love to hang on to 5th at WOT to 4000rpm :D



6th at 4k would be nuts!

You guys don't need 4K... you need a wider ratio trans or an auto.

I actually considered that. If my transmission goes south, I may install a NV4500 for kicks. I almost did it when I got my SBC, but didn't want to spend the $$$ on a second transmission.

i am not sure where you are getting your info dude but we need more revs end of story! other transmission's etc is pie in the sky talk. for the real world we need more revs. a modded truck with a standard transmission revs so fast it will make your head spin.



oh yea if you wont to say we dont need more rpms b/c its a straight 6 i will let you argue with every person with 4gsk kit on 12v's and with piers sheid etc... getting the point?



bye the way tommeygun has a 5 speed and he wants more revs so i dont see how a 5speed swap will help that is unless you have the g56 transmission.

Well, the 5 speed swap will accomplish this:



With the NV5600, you have to shift 2-3-4-5 to get to direct.

With the NV4500, you have to shift 2-3-4 to get to direct.



1st and overdrive are the same (or similar), you just have one less gear to deal with on the 5 speed, and power overcomes the spread in gearing. It may be harder to find that perfect towing gear, but who cares? I don't tow.



I think you can hustle a 5 speed in a race faster than the 6 speed.
 
well i understand you now! and yes the 5 speed rows much better than 6 speed. but the 6speed is a pulling monster. the 5 speed is a great transmission
 
I have looked at the specs for NV5600 oil, and have concluded that if all you care about is fast shifting, not gear wear, you may be better off using ATF type F .



That was made for the old Fords with the brass clutches in the auto's, and should make the synchronizers more grabby in the NV5600, giving you faster shifting.

Maybe someone who races theirs wants to give it a try.
