This is the one:

Craftsman Professional 25 gal. Air Compressor, 1. 8 hp, Horizontal Tank - Model 19541 at Sears.com

If you click on the reviews you will see that most people are extremely happy with this compressor because it is so quiet, however there have been some who found small leaks and misaligned motor mount (makes belt squeal apparently). I checked mine out when I bought it, and its quality was A+, no leaks or poor alignment.

I have a 60-gallon upright in our shop and while it is able to deliver more air it is painful to be around because its so loud. This little compressor is much, much quieter and I am finding it is very handy to wheel around. Heavier than it looks, but you can easily maneuver it around in the house and shop without busting a gut lugging a pancake style compressor.

It's actually a 1. 5hp 10amps is a 1 hp , they are back to the old thing of "develops" . Devilbiss builds a lot of Craftsman compressors. My friend works for L>A. county fire and did an inspection of their plant and saw all the sears stuff in there. They said they have to build it cheaper for sears they only want so much life out of the compressor

Buy used

If you want a good compressor that will fit your budget, buy a good used one. They are easy to find, especially 3-phase ones like I have. The motor can be changed to a single phase motor if you do not have 3-phase power.

I bought my 80 gallon Ingrosol with commercial 2-stage pump and 5 horsepower 3-phase motor for $900 from a local air compressor dealer. It was gone through and serviced, with new pressure switch, air shut off ball valve, drain valve, oil, air filter and belts. It is a great unit and not loud at all.

I also bought a 250 gallon Campion unit for my company shop. It has 2 10 horse 480v 3 phase motors with 4 cylinder, 2 stage, dual intercooled pumps, auto tank drain and low oil shutdown. It is exceptionally quiet and it alternates between the two pumps at each cycle. If demand is high enough, they both run together. It was also "gone through" with new pressure switches, "alternator" (which switches between the two pumps), belts, one new motor, new air filters (4 total), pump oil, ball valves and pressure gauge. We got this unit for $2600 from the same company I got mine from.

I got a good used 100 gallon horizontal 5 horse 3-phase unit from a customer who was moving for $500 for a friend. He changed the motor to 240 single phase using a motor he already had. It is a good working unit. I more recently had a customer GIVE me an old unit that is also a 100 gallon horizontal but it has a bad 5 horse 3-phase motor. I have a motor but have not taken the time to tinker with it.

The good thing about commercial units versus homeowner units is they run slower rpms, yet produce more air due to larger cylinders in the pumps and are therefore quieter and last longer (less speed=longer life). A good commercial compressor will last a lifetime if you keep the tank drained, the filters clean and the pump oil changed.

BUY MADE IN USA!!! If we do not support our country, who will?
