Well i made it home with my new DTT heavy duty trans, 91% TC, valve body, and Mag Hytec pan,

The trip out was 3300 miles took 4 days (driving alone).

Pulling the hills and bucking a Strong head wind on the way out i did good to maintain 65 MPH at 2400+ rpm (98 trans and BD converter) average 12 MPG.

I traveled 4650 miles on the way back stopping in Utah for a few days, Pulling hills are now no problem with the new converter 70 MPH up Vail pass at 1950- 2000 rpm EGT's 1150-1200, i actually had to watch my speed on the way home i would often look down and be doing over 80, with the BD converter i needed a strong tail wind or some good down hill to even hit 80.

I would recommend to anyone like myself who was so tired of the auto that you were considering a manual conversion Give Bill at DTT a call this thing hooks up unbelievable, nail the throttle from 65 mph the tack jumps 100rpm maybe then the truck just goes, does'nt even sound like the same truck.

Bill, Shanti, Uncle Vinnie And the crew Where great i watched every step of the rebuild and probably drove them crazy with questions, but every one was answered and explained, definitely a first class operation.

I'd like to thank Bushwhacker and Nascar Mark for coming by to see me while i was there, both trucks spotless and lookin good and mine on the rack with 3300 miles of driving in the rain and covered with road crap i kinda felt bad.

The new disk brakes worked very well no problems.

The 195/75/16 NITTOS worked very well wet and dry and are the quietest tires i've had on the truck and almost no tread wear.

I don't know how your rpm changes since both convertors lockup in 3rd and final drive , next year will be my turn for the DTT

Midnite is right, no lockup on mine and with this converter i can't see ever needing one ... ... ..... You wont regret the DTT best decision i made, while i was there i saw some of DTT's competion transmitions come in that where nothing more than stock rebuilds

4 cluches not 5 as avertised and a nice fancy BD stencile on the valve body, when this thing came apart the trans fluid looked like ld burnt motor oil, not a pretty sight, if you've got the time to go in person it's worth the trip and you'll have a whole new outlook on trannys ... ... ..... Rick

Glad you made it home Rick. It was nice meeting you and you will be smiling for some time yet with that transmission. :D

Clap for the wolf pack, they treat your transmission right.

I sure wish I'd had the money to have DTT go through my transmission when we passed through Abbotsford early this summer.

Oh well...

Rick,

I also was shocked, I don't have a Tach but the truck is much quieter at freeway speeds(and above:D :D )

Towing approx 7500 pounds averaged 10. 9 miles per gallon for about 5000 miles of towing before converter, with 89% DTT over a 1300 mile trip(one way I left my truck in Arizona:{, get to fly back on the 23rd :) ) I averaged 11. 84 with the benefit of not slowing down on most of the hills.

I am glad to be a part of the "Pack"

Glad yours is working out good.

I'm confused. I was told by a good diesel Mec. that my truck 93 doesn't have a lock-up converter and it is a wast of money to change the converter because there is no clutch in a replacement converter ether so my truck would not lock up. Does this sound confusing it should because I am confused. He showed me a converter from a newer truck and said this is the lock-up clutch yours doesn't have one. Does the DTT converter have a lock-up clutch, does my truck have a lock-up clutch?

BlueJay

Your truck does not have a lock up converter, that part is correct

but changing your converter is probably the best money you'll spend if plan to keep the truck for a while, a factory converter has an efficiency of about 60% if your lucky, a new DTT converter will give you 89 or 91% which ever you chose, after seeing how tight my 91 is i don't think i would want a lock up.

there are other manufactures advertising similar performance but don't be fooled DTT is the only game in town, believe me i pulled out a $ 600 BD converter and chucked it when i got the DTT, no comparison what so ever ... ... ... Rick
