Thanks everyone for your input about how to start upgrading. I have spent lots of time on the search engine reading previous threads, and think I have a basic plan to get started.
I think I will start with a Jacob's exhaust brake (endorsed by Dodge), then, on the A-pillar, install a boost and pyro gauge for sure, and probably a fuel pressure guage. I just like the idea of having 3 gauges on the pillar. I read a post about someone who installed two pyro sensors, pre and post, and wired them to the same gauge with a selector switch. I like this idea. It seems the best of both worlds. It would tell me what is going on while pulling the big trailer on the road, then flip the switch and watch the turbo cool off when we get to the campground.
It will still be awhile before I can afford to start this project, but at least I now have a dream!!
Thanks again for everyone's input, and if you have any thoughts on my starter plan, by all means let me know. This is my first diesel, so I am relying on your guys experience. If this truck lasts like I think it will, it will probably be the last fullsize truck we buy. Would like to take care of it and make it last.
