MAF sensor Engine shut Down???

I was at Are local truck pull event And my air filter was really dirty So I just took the air filter off before I hocked to the sled. . So I get all spooled up let the clutch out at the 60' mark and just get going good and then the engine just shut down. .



If the MAF sensor reads to much air going past it will it put the engine in limp mode?? Damn electronics :--)
 
I don't know about the MAF sensor either. The MAP sensor (if that's what you are talking about) doesn't detect volume (too much air) but rather pressure. With an unrestricted input, you may have exceeded the manifold pressure and put it into the limp mode.

I dont thing it was the map sensor because the boxes trick the ecm signals and correct that... I meant the sensor in the intake before the turbo.

Maybe I just ran it out of fuel?? I need to get a fuel pressure gauge.

The one before the turbo on the 3rd gen is the Intake Air Temp now isn't it?



The MAP measures the pressure. Even though the boxes attempt to correct and block a fault, the ECM can still register a fault and cause it to go into the limp mode. Sometimes the boxes themselves trigger the MAP overvoltage/undervoltage fault code.
 
Matt is right, the intake sensor measure temp and pressure. It looks VERY similar to the Map sensor if you remove them and compare.
