Mag-Hytec

It would void the warranty if the cover caused a failure, but not

for just being on there. EX. leaked fluid out , etc... .

Thanks for the replys... so if I change to the new cover, how do you judge the proper fluid level since it adds fluid capacity etc. . is their a mark on the Mag-hytec just like the factory cover??? Thanks!

I saw the dealership where I worked (GM dealer) void the warranty on a mid 90s Impala SS rear end because of an aftermarket cover. The field tech rep said that GM had a rash of Impala and Camaro guys change the cover out to a larger capacity type and experience rear end failures afterward. He said that the factory cover fit close to the ring gear for a reason. The factory cover fit snug up against the ring gear so the fluid would climb up the back of the rear end . An aftermarket unit that fits further away from the gearset and therby offering more capacity would not allow the proper lubricant flow.

When we layed the stock one and aftermarket one next to each other, it made sense. The factory cover hugs the gearset real close.

Your mileage may vary, obviously a high performance car and a heavy duty truck are different animals.

Has Mag-Hytek addressed the o-ring alignment problem addressed elsewhere on this site? It's my understanding that the cover for the AA 11. 5" was designed around GM'a applications, not the Dodge, therefore the alignment problems. Does anybody know if this is fixed? Further, are they making a front diff cover for Dodge yet? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Check out the PML cover, I just put one on my truck. Uses the factory gasket and all the bolts so there should be no leaking issues. They are also coming out with a cover for the front within a couple months.

The "AA14-11. 5a" has the groove for the O-ring routed a little closer to the bolt hole so as to stay further from the edge of the mating surface on the Dodge version of the AA axle housing.
