LarryB, you need to use a precision straight edge to check for flatness of the mating surface of the differential housing AFTER you have "stoned" this surface. Assuming this is within acceptable limits, I would suggest you fill the steel stamped voids (ONLY) in the mating surface with a quality automotive silicone sealer and let it cure prior to installing your Mag-Hytec cover. The O-ring seal is vastly superior to any other type of seal available. Another installation tip: lightly lubricate the O-ring prior to installation. If you EXPLICITLY follow Mag-Hytec's installation instructions you will NOT have any problems. I have had mine on for at least 39k miles of the 42k I have on my '98. 5 Ram without so much as a weep! In fact, the entire periphery around my Mag-Hytec cover (on the differential) is rusted due to NO oil seepage.
Thanks again Roy for providing a high quality accessory for my Ram.

Another trick I've learned that works EVERY time; apply Loctite 515 to both sides of a paper gasket (100% coverage) prior to application. This will provide a seal so superior that no oil will seep from it. NONE! I've been using this method for at least 12 years now. If one or both of the mating surfaces is aluminum use Loctite 518 instead. [NOTE: the two Loctite products listed are NOT "Thread Lockers" instead, they are "Gasket Eliminators"].
