Just changed my rear diff fluid & installed my mag-hytec cover. I've got about 3/8" clearance between the cover & the factory installed sway bar. Is this enough? Not sure how much movement this thing does. I mentioned that I had the factory sway bar when I ordered the cover... Those of you that have these installed... . is it a straight bolt on, or do I need to modifiy the sway bar mounting so these 2 won't hit? Just checking as I don't want to find out the hard way  Otherwise, all went well, no surprises. Got alot of PM done today, prep'd for transmission temp gauge install & had alot o laughs with Gorilla :D Tomorrow's more of the same...

Hey BIGDIG... . shoulda come down this weekend, near 50 degrees & sunny

Thanks in advance on the clearance issue.

Glen

Thats right... . Same as mine, No problems on the sway bar. The axle goes up and down and the sway bar just twists so no problems on that clearance.

I put my mag-hytec cover on my rear mod. 70 diff. today and I read this post so I went out with a flash light and measured the clearance and I've got atleast 1 1/2" all the way around my cover to the factory sway bar. Cigar John and EricBu12 have 6 speeds and should have the Dana 80's, bigger diff. less clearance, but dzldpatriot has an 01 with an auto and should have a Dana 70 like me. I don't think the clearance is going to be a problem though, like everyone said the sway bar is bolted to the axle housing and it will go up and down with it.

Is yours a 2wd or 4wd? When I put the cover on the 99 2wd, I had to install a spacer on the sway bar. About a 2 in block if I remember correctly.

I've got 2wd and the Dana 70. 3/8" is a big difference from 1 1/2". Where would I get the spacers from? Is this something I should've got from Geno's when I ordered the cover? Not sure now about using the truck  I did put a few miles on it after all the fluid changes, with no problems. What about when I hook onto the 5er?

After logging out, I read the Geno's catalog. in reading the fine print  it states that a "relocation kit" is included if you have 2wd and the Dana 80 . With that, I think I'm good to go... famous last words right :-laf

I have a 2wd and the dana 80 and had to install the relocation block. I have no problem with swaybar clearence but do have a problem with spare tire clearence. The tire would rub the top of the cover over bumps or while towing my 5th wheel. I use a covered chain from the factory tow hitch to the spare to pull it back for more clearence.
