Just installed the new deep Mag Hytec transmission pan. What a trick piece. Quality is excellent, just dropped the old pan, tightened the bands and installed the new deep pan. Looks so good, I keep getting on my back under the truck just to look at it.

That's good to hear! Mine is going in on Monday, along with the DTT tc/vb.

On a separate issue, how do you like the VW TDI? If performance injectors were available, would you buy some?

Randy,
this is the first i've heard that the new pan has been released. I talked to Roy myself a couple of weeks ago and didnt know it was to be released yet. I have held up my sales on these pans suggesting guys wait for the new one.

Where did you get yours?

Hi Bill, I actually called your shop to order, since I hope to be buying transmission parts from you in the future, but was told you didn't have them. So I called Mag-Hytec directly, sent them a check and told them to send one to me when they came in. Received it about a week ago.

24V-DSL, I guess that answers your question also. I do know that Geno's includes a filter that Mag-Hytec doesn't. And I would recommend talking to Bill at DTT.

2000NEY, my wife is primary driver of the Jetta, she loves it. I'm sure impressed with it when I get to drive it though. Acceleration is great, milage is around 40 - 45, with her driving city & highway combined. And it seems a well built solid car. I think I'm more interested in bombing the truck than the VW right now. But, if injectors were priced right...

That Bites! I've had a Mag-Hytec double deep transmission pan on order from Mag-Hytec (through The PowerShop) since the first week in January. I (as well as The PowerShop) have subsequently checked back with Roy on several occasions as to an ETA... as late as earlier in the week. We were told it would be another several weeks.

Come on Roy, I was one of your VERY FIRST customers... and already have one of your (std. deep) transmissions pans (and diff. cover). Wouldn't it be appropriate to take care of your long standing customers first?

John,
No wonder you get yourself in such trouble, always buying the first or last of something before the new change. (lol)
I too am being very patient.
I have been holding off buying a turbo now for 4 months, i know something new is in the works.

I wonder, can a guy like you wait 4 months for something? (lol)

Bill

Bill:

I have a "regular" sized "Mag-HyTec" pan
on my truck right now. In your opinion
are the "deeper" pans better??

Thanks for your input.

Sorry John (& Roy), I certainly didn't mean to stir up anything here. Did you send payment on it yet John. The only thing I can think, is I sent a check and just asked them to send me one when done. Again sorry, I didn't ask for or expect preferential treatment. Although I am tremendously happy with the quick response. I would have never sent payment that far in advance if not for Roy's terrific reputation.

..... you're killin' me Bill! #ad
Well, at least with you, you've ALWAYS taken care of me..... first V10/Cummins hybrid TC for the 24v and then the first 93% efficiency production TC. Thanks Bill... I think. Does that mean I'm a lab rat???? #ad
I know, I know, just the rat. #ad
Shanti, go ahead and slap him silly for me. #ad

Randy, yesterday I received an email from Roy at Mag-Hytec (boy, that was quick... I didn't think he would see my post and email me until at least today) telling me that ONLY six prototype double deep trans. pans had been shipped for testing. He also said the pans will be shipped (hopefully) during the week of the 19th (which concurs with what they told The PowerShop early last week).

... ... waiting patiently for mine #ad

I just saw your post John_P. The double deep trans. pan is 2" deeper than the standard deep version. The double deep version holds an additional 4 qts. of ATF and comes with a filter spacer to relocate the filter near the bottom of the extended pan. As I already have the std. deep Mag-Hytec trans. pan on my Ram, I measured down the extra 2" to see how low the new pan would hang. I'll tell you one thing, it's not for everyone. The bottom of the double deep trans. pan should be just above the transmission crossmember by an inch or so. If your an avid four wheeler (with your Ram), the standard deep trans. pan may be a better choice. That's the reason I'm not going to sell my std. deep pan right away... I'm going to decide if I like the newer version better or not.

If anyone is replacing the standard depth pan with the new super deep pan, I'd be interested in buying the standard pan off you. Just send an email.

Thanks,
Ryan

John P,

What John said , DITTO,

Deep pans for guys doing serious towing or heavy traffic driving, regular pan for guys that plan to do serious offroading.

and John, thank you for the suggestion for Shanti, you know how bashful she is,
P. S. i think she's got the slapping part down to a Science.

I received my new Mag-Hytec Double Deep transmission pan yesterday. Everything I had originally discussed with Roy at the time the order was placed was fulfilled exactly as requested. Thank you Roy. #ad

There seems to have been some incorrect information circulating as to increased capacity of the Double Deep pan. As stated in the accompanying installation instructions, the Double Deep pan increases fluid capacity by 4 quarts over the OE 1996 transmission pan. If you remember, Dodge went to the deeper OE pan in (I believe) 1998 so it would seem that there is less increase in fluid capacity (in my case) than originally thought. Since I have both the Deep and Double Deep Mag-Hytec transmission pans I may measure the capacity difference between them myself.

Anyway, I have yet another project to tackle. #ad
