I'd like to hear from anybody running this system. I'm learning to appreciate the quietness of the 3rd gens in the cab, and would like to keep it that way if at all possible. Now with that said, I love the sound of the ATS on my current truck. It's LOUD outside the truck but not too bad inside. I just like the looks of a full 5" exhaust but I don't think I could put up with a constant drone inside the cab, but I want it loud out the pipe. The truck I'm getting is a 2500 lwb quad cab 4x4, if it matters. Thanks



Also, I know this system eliminates the cat. How is that going to work when/if the truck needs to go back to the dealer for warrenty work? I suppose it could be adapted to the cat some how, because I have no intention of taking it in and out all the time.

hi --i dont have magna flow,but do have bullydog 5" from yhe downpipe backthe cat back system was throaty with no drone in cab. then my poor cat "fell"off and really woke it up (and everyone around me!)i think theres very little drone in cab,outside is "kenworthesque" big rig,big balls sound i dig it hope i could help---LA
 
I am running that same set-up... but 6". Wow, how my neighbors love me especially the ones 10 miles away...

I have a 5 inch from Stans Headers and at 70-75 you can hear the rumble a little but there is no drone like a straight pipe, but when the window is down along a building I tell you what my neighbor :-laf he thinks that I drive up and down the road just to hear it rattle off his house and it seems the higher the attitude the louder it seems to get love it... Oo.
 
I just installed the 5" magnaflow system about two weeks ago. It is a little louder in the cab but a huge difference outside very loud. The setup does get rid of the cat, could probably be rigged up in there some way but why, that is the reason i went with the magnaflow is it was a turbo back system and not cat back

I ended up making my own and started it where the cat goes on. The whole thing cost $310. 00 including the muffler all mandrell bends. Took about 4hrs to make.
 
I am also looking at a magnaflow exhaust. If you remove the cat will the truck pour out black smoke or will I even notice a difference?
 
I am running the Magnaflow 15989 5" kit on my 05. I did have to put a tip on it to extend the pipe out a bit further to keep the "black " off the side of the truck. The sound is great! I do have a new "PROTO TYPE" Muffler from Flowmaster that is sitting in the garage and I plan on putting it on today. I would highly recommend the 5" Magnaflow kit!
 
the 5" system are "BAD" to look at, but they are "LOUD". hook to a trailer and you will know exactly what I am talking about. You can allways turn up your radio! I had them, and like the big rig sound, but after a short while they were getttin on my nerves. Find someone with the 5" setup and ask them their opinion, and go for a test ride with both the windows open and closed, oh yea-don`t forget to get on the freeway @70 mph, with a load behind and against the concrete wall--"I can`t Hear YOU!. great at first , but it will get to you and your passengers.
 
I have read that unless 500H. P. plus the 5 inch actually hurts performance. Dyno graphs showed this. Also that the CAT does NOT affect performance much. If you already have the FACTORY 4 inch system why not just a muffler change? Drone is ALWAYS much worse towing in certain RPM ranges.
