I recently purchased a 2003, 3500 it has silverline 4" with a magnaflow muffler & no cat, I was wondering if I would notice a difference if I replaced muffler with 4" straight. any opinions would help.

What a perfect question for me. Magnaflow used my truck on their R&D. In exchange got a rental car for a week and a free 4" turbo back system. Here's my thought. Fit & finsish were nice, customer service was great, but it souned like they took the muffler off their Honda kit. Just didn't sound like a diesel. I hated it from the day I picked it up. So I had the muffler removed and straight piped about a month later. Yes, it's louder, but it also cooled me down about 100 degrees at WOT. That was a sacrifice I was willing to take. Anything to get me cooler. So I left it straight piped. Didn't notice any performace difference between the two as far as feel in the pedal. All I noticed was my EGT weren't climbing as fast. If you can handle loud go for it. It's not obnoxious while you're driving. Radio on low, conversation with the wife, it's no big deal. Getting on it hard is when it gets loud. . 02¢

Keep the Maganflow. I have a Silverline system on mine. Check it out in my picture gallery. I had to add it because of the drone. It ran me out of the cab. I had the 20 inch one added just before the resonator at came with the system. It is much better. Still loud but not obnoxious.

thanks for your $. 02 driverno8, that's what i'll do if it runs cooler. I don't mind the sound at all, it does kinda sound like a riceburner.
