Attention: TDR Forum Junkies I bought this one in '96. They were originally available in Polished Aluminum. I have yet to see a nicer rear end cover. The salesman told me they would tarnish quickly. (I think thats why they discontinued the bare aluminum). I bought 2 cans of Krylon Clear and spayed it good. Almost 5 years and its still in good shape. I live in the salt belt too. Upgaded the fasteners with stainless steel a few years ago.
Keep in mind the rear end & Cover are dirty in this picture. You should see it clean and the axle freshly sprayed with black rustproofing.
