I'd like to hear from any TDR member who has the MagView Differential Cover (with lexan window) installed on their CTD. I like the idea of a visual inspection but wonder if the lexan window discolors after long use. I also wonder how the magnets are cleaned off with an oil change. If they can't be cleaned, without removing the cover, then a removable magnet (like the ones in the Mag-Hytec) would seem to be a better option...

Well, I just got a set of the MagViews - one for each differential, but likely won't install them for a few months yet. Chris Sutton [csutton7] has them on each diff, and really likes them, Don't know how many miles he has on the gear oil inthem though. Send him an email or Private Message.

I'm curious about this cover. From what I understand, the company that made them is no longer in business. I was thinking of getting one for my front diff since (at lat check) geno's has the 70 unit available, but the 80's are gone.

Does the unit for a Dana 70 clear the front steering linkage? My truck is an 01 model. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I guess I'll wait for one from Mag-Hytec, but I'm not holding my breath.

MJ,

I just ordered mine from Geno's about 3 weeks ago, online. I didn't talk to anyone at their store, so maybe I got their last ones??? I ordered the Dana80 for the rear and the Dana70 for the front. Haven't yet installed them, probably not for a while yet.

Chsit Sutton has the MagViews on both front and rear diffs, and the front clears just fine, unless you have a lift kit and therefore a different bracket for your track bar. Although Chris's truck is a 99.

huh?

"Dana 70 cover for the front?" When did Dodge change from the Dana 60 front differential????
