i a m looking for input on the Magview rear cover. I don't need info on how great the Mag-Hytek cover is,I have a Magview. I just recieved this cover from Geno's and was surprised to see that the outside hammered finish is nothing more than a plastic like shrink wrap adheared to the outside of the cover. Anyone who has this cover,is it a problem. Is it gonna last,or will it begin to peel off in a year or two and look like crap. I need some honest input.

I'll be following this thread closely, cause my next BOMB will be a diff cover... . I was looking at the magviews because I liked the window where you can see the level and clarity without taking out a dip stick. Don't like your description about the cheap covering. By the way... when I talked to Piers, in February, he said he might be putting up Mag Hyteks on special this month...

More on Magview cover!

I've been trying to decide on which diff. cover to buy. Was wondering if site glass style would stay clean enough to see! Any thoughts on that in TDR land? Had a site glass on farm tractor and seems to me it wasn't always clean enough to read! Hope Pier's puts Mag. on sale. Let me know if anyone see's it on sale somewhere! I'll do the same! Thanks JPS

I have two-front and rear---only thing that's peeled is the black paint around the site glass--the red is holding on good----chris

I would think it would be kind of risky to have one with a sight glass on it. Rocks or what ever may break the glass and there goes the oil.

who or what is Piers? Can anyone provide a web link??

I've thought about getting one, if only for oil change simplicity, but 200+ bucks for the dana-80 sounds aweful high... .

My understanding is that the window is removable for cleaning. Also, I don't think it's made out of glass, but probably a high strength lexan type material. The big advantage is being able to see the level and condition of the oil. I also understand there are magnets in the window, so you would be able to see gear problems such as metal flake, etc... . ;)

install is a pc of cake----the glass is LEXAN----I'm pretty sure the same one for the Dana 70 fits the Dana 60 front---you need to contact Magview---chris
