Mahle is one of the most technically advanced international piston suppliers in the engine industry. They supply pistons for everything from motocross bikes to Formula 1 engines to the superlongstroke marine 2-cycle diesels. Our company provided Mahle 2-piece pistons in our 15. 5" bore/22" stroke 4-cycle diesel and dual fuel engines.

We've used them in several rebuilds, they work great.

I would suggest having them ceramic-coated on top and dry film lube coating the skirts.

Give these guys a shout.

Only word of caution for those in cold climates is the top coating increases warmup times if the truck will be a daily driver. . .

I used them in my rebuild. Would not do it again. My machine shop balanced my motor and said the weights of the pistons were way off.

Were the weights different than the stock pistons, or different from Mahle piston to Mahle piston (i. e. , varying wildly within the set)?

That certainly hasn't been my experience with Mahle pistons. That notwithstanding, couldn't your shop correct it by machining the piston's weight pads? If not, the pistons should have been returned to the supplier.
