A great deal from Stable Lift

Exhaust Brake Installed

I have maine plates on my equipment trailer. Many newyorkers have been running maine plates, but now troopers are ticketing these trailers. They will ask you if when the lasttime you were in maine, if its more than 4 weeks you get a ticket.

Now one person I know hired an attorney, and won. seems the constitution has a section to do with interstate comerce and that no state shall infringe on such commerce.

I would like to here if anyone else has had to deal with this.

I here there next scam will be ticketing over with trailers, which are anything over 96 inches.

If the trailer is plated commercially, then the plates should be ok.

Are you plating commercially, or non-commercially?

A couple questions, why do you have Maine plates?

Do you have a house/business/whatever in Maine?

Dunno about NY, but NJ trailer plates are $20 a year. Nothing to go to Maine over.

101" wide trailers should be legal on all interstate roads unless specifically marked.

#1- Maine plates are alot cheaper than NY

#2- We use a broker, Maine address

#3- 1 year; $38, 5 years; $101, 10 years; $191

When I had a 10k tag a long, it was $90 for a year. I can register my 15k goose for $38, makes sense to me. I went for 5 yrs the first time, this time I'll go for 10. I won't give the NY government any more than I have to, they just give it to NY City to give it away in the ghettos. We get over taxed on everything, like cars. A car has sales tax paid on it every time it is sold, 6 owners, 6 x tax. Now there are surcharges, when my kid was born, the hospital bill had a gov surcharge, like 5%.

Sorry about the soapbox!

I know of a dozen guys in my tractor club that are registered in Maine.

One guy I know got a ticket, got a lawyer and beat it. It cost him good, but he said it was the point of it.

102 inches is legal width, most large equiptment haulers are that wide, some are 9 feet from the factory.

I dont know if it's really the same, but I live in an area that has a high precentage of retiree's.

There's something like 50% Florida plates here all summer long.

My parents have a house in Maine so all their vehicles have Maine plates, and nobody ever asked about their plates.

Besides, who's to say you werent there in the last 4 weeks???

You sound very very bitter! :-laf

Maine, must be really cheap, you see trailers running around here (Iowa) with Maine plates, and they are usually good for 10 years. Funny though, they are usually on trailers from NY. :-laf

Gee, I'm sorry, I'm under alot of stress. My wife is going in for a C-section 2 weeks from tomorrow, she's a little uncomfortable and pissy, and my 3 year old is the son of satan! :p :{

Just kiddin! (about the stress) :-laf

By the way how are things up your way?

Pretty good other than I am working this weekend, that's why I figured I'd spend a little time giving people a hard time :-laf A C-section huh, say hello to Rosey for a while! :-laf

ya maine plates will save me 600. 00 over three years.

make sure you get NYS inpected even if you have aine plates

96 is the only legal width in new york (on state roads) unless you have and overwidth permit.

Tim, I don't need Rosey, that's why she's gettin a section. Doesn't mess up the plumbin' ;)

Greg, I don't get mine inspected here, it's like admitting that you live in NY. (I know, duh, the truck has NY plates) If you lived in ME, would you get it inspected in NY? Just my . 02.
