Making a Fiberglass subwoofer enclosure.

I'm pretty handy when it comes to making things from scratch and i seen a couple of fiberglass subwoofer enclosures on the new 3rd gen quad cabs. Does anyone have any info or pics on making one of these enclosure out of fiberglass? Or better yet pictures of them making the enclosure. Step by step. Thanks all. Love the site.

I've seen some replace the center consol with an enclosure.



By the way, anyone that removes their center consol, a business consol with all the storage, and it happens to be taupe in color, let me know. I'll buy it if the price is not unreasonable.

Fiberglass is not dense enough for a sub , 3/4 MDF works the best. Good luck with what ever you do.

That's funny, most of the car stereo shops around here offer it as one of the options over a wooden box. They put one in a buddy's Tahoe that held 4 JL 12's, and it has held up going on 2 years now

It is a pre molded enclosure designed specifically to have optimum sound out of limited space. The problem with making your own is the hurdles to jump in order to do it right from the construction process to matching the air space/design to the intended driver and a whole bunch of other physics that JL has already done. Its pretty much plug and play. Just installed one in my truck last month and after about 5-6 hours of playing it hard, it finally broke in and now sounds great!!!!
