Archived Malfunction Indicator Light - Lost Power

Need Advice



Malfunction Indicator light came on. Stayed on for 1 day (6 - 8 starts. ) Next day light was off. Third day light came on while driving from Portland, Or to Medford, Or (200 miles. ) Truck lost power 4 separate times.



Took to dealer, got codes P1693 and P0216. Dealer thought it might have had bad fuel. Sent me on my merry way. Test drove for 50 miles. All was good. Next day, light came on again. Lost power one time for 23 miles of a 250 mile trip.



Have 300 miles remaining. Should I be concerned?

You can always use the fuel drain valve to check for presence of water in fuel(water in fuel light should come on).

Seems more serious than water in fuel, more like not enough fuel.

Don't know codes.

OH NO!! P0216 is the dreaded pump timing failure code. Looks like your pump could be living on borrowed time, I hate to say. Power loss and 216 usually equal dieing VP. I would be concerned about the rest of the trip, but if it dies you will know why.

Mine did that and the LP was gone and so was the VP pump. My advice get it covered under warranty while you still can.
