I seen my brother this weekend,and he works for GM in Grand Rapids,he seen my new truck and I thought he was going to wip my behind,or die trying:D

He jumped all over me for buying a truck built in Mexico,and I mean he was P!ssed:--) Don't you know we are losing thousands of jobs and you are supporting it:{

He thought the same thing about my 2000,but I told him that one was built in the USA and he said sure it did:-laf

Anyway he isnt very happy with me:-{}

Right, and GM cars and trucks are 100% American made with 100% American parts?? :rolleyes: Your brother needs to get with the times. Like it or not, it's a global economy and there's no getting around it. Did you ask him where his shoes were made, or the shirt he was wearing? How about his TV and the toys he's bought for his kids?

I hope I didn't just turn this into a political argument topic.

Or electronics! China owns us! I'm not crazy about the idea that our trucks are made in Mexico--at least we have American-made engines. When I bought my '04 truck, I looked at Ford and Chevy. Personally, I didn't trust Chevy's engines, given their past reputation with diesels and the fact that they put aluminum heads on a diesel, and Ford was having its own problems with the new Powerstroke. Motor Trend said Dodge trucks were built well when they picked Dodge HD for 2003 Truck of the Year, and I knew the reputation of Cummins, so I bought a Dodge.

Just tell him that you don't want to fight about it but, Mexico continues to build better trucks than Ford or Chevy.

Make sure your stun gun is fully charged first.

When I bought my truck the quality of fit and finish coming from Mexico was far better than the USA built trucks. I have yet to find any loose bolts, crooked panels, squeaks, etc...

I like the idea of building up Mexico's economy... maybe that way they won't do really crazy things to try to get across the border...

Not 100%. When I toured the Cummins Mid Engine Plant during the big TDR rally in Columbus, Indiana (was that '98 or '99?), I noticed that the connecting rods in our engines say "Brazil" on them.

My GM Camaro was built in Canada - as are other GM products - NO ONE can get high-and-mighty in the "made in America" bit - remove all the foreign originated components from ANY of the supposed "American built" vehicles, and they couldn't move under their own power!

My Ford-lovin' RV bud started ragging on me about my "Taco Dodge" - until I showed him info on the Ford trucks being built in Mexico for delivery up here... ;)

There's a similar thread going on in the Political forum where I posted the following (knowing that a lot of people don't go there):

OK, which of my last two vehicle purchases was the more "patriotic"?

2003 Acura 3. 2TL-S built in Marysville, OH (engine built in Ada, OH) by a Japanese parent corporation (Honda).

2002 Dodge Ram 3500 built in Saltillo, Mexico (engine built in ??? - perhaps Columbus, IN) by a German parent corporation (DaimlerChrysler).

Not just now, fellas. My 79 Chevy Malibu was built in Canada. I am happy with my Mexican Taco Truck. Fit and finish is flawless.

No complaint here,I am real happy with it:D

YUP - seems the "taco benders" are VERY happy with those neat jobs we sent down their way - they sure did a great job putting mine together - and DC sure was eager to pass on the labor savings to me... :rolleyes: :p

My taco truck had not a squeek at 150k of hard alaskan driving. My 99 is nigh on 100k and no squeeks. I miss the LSD though.

Tell em your truck is made in america. North America.

"My wife is Mexican and she is VERY patriotic about her new "Taco Truck". "

Give her a hug and a big kiss from us appreciative "Taco truck drivers"... :D :D :D
