I know, I know. By now, I know you're all getting tired of reading these threads raving on about DTT's stuff. Well, sorry but I just gotta rave
Went to Dallas over the weekend and had my 91% converter and towing series valve body installed. Had James Northrum do the install. James did an excellent job and did everything he said he was going to. I looked under the truck when I got back to camp with it to see if there was anything I could find lacking, something left unplugged or something not quite right, you know the stuff you're accustomed to finding whenever someone else works on your truck. There was nothing. Nada. Everything was perfect. Thanks again James
Now to the good stuff. Man, you can't really appreciate this set up until you tow with it. I'm used to first and second gear sucking goats. Usually you barely stomp on the pedal and it revs up to 2 grand and doesn't really move anywhere. Now, you touch the pedal and it bumps up to 1500 grand and starts smokin' and working
With my mystery unlock switch activated to keep the converter unlocked, there are absolutly NO GAPS between gears! It's amazing. When I hit a speed to cruise at, whether in high direct or O/D, I just flip the unlock switch back into the normal operating position, bump off the throttle real quick and it locks up, like right now and cruises. I also put on the mag hightec pan. With the sender in the pan, the highest temps I saw, we're talking 33' travel trailer in tow, converter unlocked, alls to the wall, smoke billowing out the pipe
tearing out onto the highway passing people was about 160-165 degrees. Man, what a ride. I've found that something extra that my truck's been missing. I would put this set up against the chivy's allison set up any day. I mean, come on, the allison in the chevy's only rated at 500 and something footpounds or torque and I'm waaaay past that. Cost? I would recomend to anyone that can't afford this set up to stick with your stock transmission until you can save your pennies and get one or better yet, do like me and charge it and figure out how to pay for it later. How much is the allison upgrade cost extra on the chevy? I don't remember but I bet you can upgrade to DTT's stuff and still be cheaper. Big thumbs up to everyone. I'm gonna be
for awhile, I can see that!
