does anyone know the last manufacture date where a 2005 will still have a nv5600 6pd and NOT the new g56? thanks guys. im thinking about getting my dealer to see if he can find one at another dealership.

I tried to do this over several other mods in the last few years and I think it might be easier to find out what vin the changes occured on that way you can go online yourself doing dealer inventory searches and looking at window stickers online to locate the vin numbers

Any 6-sp built in '04 is a NV5600, If it's built in '05 G56
I have a 2005 with the NV 5600. If you view the 5-star websites for the dealers you can look at the window stickers, if there is a $400 dollar add for HD 6spd transmision, it will be the NV5600. That is how I found mine, then I just confirmed that reverse was up and to the right.

Keep in mind that "built in 2005" and "built in 2004" is not the same as model year 2005 and 2004. From the previous replies, all 2005 model trucks built in calender year 2004 have the NV5600 and all 2005 model trucks built in calender year 2005 have the G56.

My 05 was built Feb. 19th, 2005, and it has the NV5600. I thought I was going to get the g56 but it arrived with the NV unit. (thank goodness)

Have the dealer perform a search on the specific sales code for the NV5600... . they have an area in their dealer search engine for "desired" and "undesired" sales codes just for things like this.

My truck build date was january 2005 and it has an NV5600 I believe the transmission code was DEG for nv5600 and DEE for g56 but better check w/tomeygun my memory is crap. Good luck...

My truck is an 05 built in November 04 with the NV5600 6 speed and the order number was DEE with a $400. 00 added option. My reverse is up to the right. Grizzly :)

Actually, Vaughn, it started about the middle of January 2005. I ordered mine on the 27th of January, and it had the new G56 in it. :)

My truck was built within a week of yours and has a G-56.

I believe tha cut-off date for the NV5600 was late November or early December. The G-56 was open for order about December 27, that's when I ordered mine. Mine was built near the first week of Feburary and I diden't get it until March 29. You have to remember that build date and delivery date are not the same.

As for hasselback, you may have the best of both worlds, the NV5600 and the DMF.

Wait, Wait, Wait, you are scaring me to death!!! You mean I could do all this work to find a nv5600 in a 2005 and still end up with a dual mass flywheel? I thought those only went with the g56? Please tell me I'm right!! Please Please :{

You all tell me what you think. The following quote is directly from the dodge literature. I read this as the DMF only comes with the g56 transmission.

"Ram 2500/3500 trucks equipped with the DaimlerChrysler

CVD G-56 manual transmission and powered with the 5. 9-

liter Cummins 600 Turbo Diesel engine also include an allnew

dual mass flywheel which greatly improves NVH

performance. "

You're Lucky!!! My March 15, 2005 Build has the G-56. Very sad.

Yes -- I think the G-56 is the only one that is so lucky. But I 100% have to disagree with the rest of this statement. I've got so much driveline slack in this thing that it clunks no matter what you do. 6th Gear growls like a rabid hungry dingo on the plains of Australia during a drought.

The G-56 is a dirty DC secret, IMHO. They cut off G-56 orders early. Something's up with these. I can't wait to see what happens with the 06's. If they go with the G-56's it will be a baaaaaad decision IMHO.

I couldn't in good conscience recommend anyone get one with the G-56. Get a NV5600 if you can or nothing if you can't.

The rest of the truck is awesome!

Coyote, what specs are you looking for in a new ride?? There is a 2500 Quad Shorty, Big Horn with the NV5600 here in upstate NY (northern NY) that I drove a month or 2 back and is still there. I would have really considered it if the timing was right and if it wasn't Silver... . If you want, I'll give you the link to it.

I would really like a 3500 single wheel, with the nv5600. thats what i want, but who knows if i will get one, or even if i find one, if the dealer and i will be able to get together on price and trade.
