Yes. I *think* the dealer must enable the option with a DRB-III tool. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

To see if yours is already enabled, put the transmission in neutral (or park, if it's an automatic), set the parking brake, and turn the cruise on. Then adjust idle with the accel/coast buttons.

rbattelle is correct , just had it done at the dealer free of charge , took 2 minutes , you can choose from 1050 or 1050 to 1500 rpm , works nice on cold mornings,

I think there's wire crossing/pin jumping involved if you're trying to do it to a manual. The dealer would still have to activate it. "Search". It's been here before.

even with the high idle enabled you have to fool the ecm to think its in park by grounding the number 22 ecm pin. pretty simple. all i did was ground mine to one of the ecm mounting bolts. after that you control the idle with the cruise control anywhere between 1050 and 1500 rpm.

Or just do what I did on my '02, cut a dowel rod just long enough to wedge under the edge of your dash to you accelerator pedal. ;) The length controls the RPMs, that the stoneage way of doing it! :D

I thought 03-04 rigs equipped with manual trannies do not get this high idle feature???

Works for me too!

I have an 03 manual and the high idle only works if the temp is below 32 on the overhead display, and it takes about 30 seconds after startup to go to high idle.

hope this helps.

that is correct the 03-04 trucks do not work when done this way. they have different ECM's. but as for the 04. 5 and up trucks it works great.

I have an early '04 with a six speed... never been to dealer, high idle kicks in all on it's own when its chilly out. ??

were talking about the actual high idle feature. it gives you the ability to enable it at any temp and also allows you to turn it up to 1450 rpms

Robert

yeah speed it up anytime 1300 rpm makes the ac frosty cold quick in the summer and 1500 rpm and recirculate heat warms up real quick on a cold day and so much faster than waiting the minute for the ecm to speed it up to 1000 rpm

on my 97. 5 the high idle worked with out the jumper and disengaged when the truck would hit 3 mph either forward or backward. also had factory cold start turned on made the engine run on alternating cylinders when below 25 degrees sounded rough but warmed up quick kevin

I talked to my dealer down here, and he had known about being able to do it on autos, but when I told him about the number 22 pin, he had never heard of that trick. Which one is the 22 pin?? It does not look like all of the pins are numbered. . Someone chime in and let me know please... Thanks!
