Only "flaw was Ford, for NOT using Cummins. .
I hear that is susposed to Change come 2007.
Yeah, right. Sure they are. If ford went to cummins, id stick with dodge. Ive had a ford, and the motor is not all thats crap.
b/c the torque of the Cummins would destroy virtually any manual hub made?
Not true. Our dana 60's are not true dana 60's to start with. Im an avid 4-wheeler also. Our shafts are Dana-44 type stuff, not 60. the shafts in our trucks will break before a good warn hub will. the reason for the Warn hub fuse is to keep from breaking shafts. Ususally a Warn hub is stronger than a 297x u-joint (found in 44's). the fuse is so that you wont break the u-joint/shaft, and the hub is easy to fix on the trail.
The Cad collar is weaker than a hub anyway.
i believe you can use the F-350 D-60 from the knuckle out, but for what?? just to loose the unitized bearings?? you still have the small inner shafts, now weaker than the stubs in the ford 60. and you still have the same ball joints. and now you have CAD and locking hubs. just more to mess with/go wrong.
99% of people dont need any more than the axle that is in our trucks, just better ball joints.
Oh yea, that thing marketed by Mile marker still exists. It bolts between the front CV joint and the X-case. It works ok in low power situations, but not with the torque we make.
