While at May Madness this year walking through the RV park I ran across a guy selling some really cool (pun intended) transmission coolers, after an hour talk I walked back to my trailer got some money and bought a set.

Well to my surprise they actually worked, on the tow there with my 5er (23k combined) my trany temps got up to 260 degrees on the hard pulls and would not cool down hardly at all after the pull up the grade was over. This is in 5th gear pulling hard, normally runs about 240 after about a half hour on the flats.

So I bolt these things on and head home and to my surprise it take about 2 hours to get the trany to 220 pushing a big head wind all the way. After a hard pull it finally gets to 240 but as soon as I head down the other side of the mountain it cools back to 200 and finally creep back to 210 after another hour. Once the temps cooled down outside it ran about 180 to 190. For the money I have to say this is a great product and I would buy it again.

I have been told by a little birdie these will be available at Geno's soon.

Heck Blair, if you really want to get things cool and have better mileage and more power, everyone knows the only way to do it is to get one of them thar newfangled Hydrogen systems!

You wouldn't happen to have some pictures of them and where to get a set would you?

I'll be doing a trans/transfer case service in about a month and would like to add a set of coolers for towing season.

They should be available soon at Geno's Garage, I will see if I can round up a picture soon. They fit NV 4500, NV 5600, Getrag (sp?) and the G56 as well.

Hopefully I get to install mine this weekend. I'll try and post pics of the fit with a 5" exhaust system.

who makes them:confused:

A TDR member his name is BOB lives in Fresno Ca. I will try to post some pictures this weekend. If you call Geno's they can give you more info.

What is taking you so long to put them on Buckshot, you getting old? LOL

Gary I bought some too with Blair but have not installed them yet. I believe Blair has a temp sending unit and a gauge for his transmission temp. I am going to install gauges on my transmission, 2speed and my Dana 80.

Originally I had a bung welded in the PTO cover now I have a nice predrilled and tapped hole in the Trans-cool coolers. I have one gauge that does trany, 2 speed and rear dif.

Sounds great - all I have at the moment, is a digital setup and probe that I can attach to the outer case, and it tops out at 156 degrees... :(

I bought one of the Trans-Cool coolers, also. Could only use one because I have a filter on the other side. Got it from Bob King at May Madness, also. a year or two ago, he had the original mock-ups & showed them to me. Very impressive product. Looked like it would work well but, I did not know for sure until BPine's post. Thanks Blair, that was very good info on just how well this thing works.

On the box it says that it will drop your transmission temps. up to 30*. I wonder if that's with two coolers or just one? It, also, says that you can add one quart of fluid with the cooler. Blair, did you add one or two quarts when you installed the coolers? Guess I could call the Customer Service # 559-907-7690.

I had my trany overfilled by one quart so I put it back to the same level now I am going to drain it down to the proper level and check temps again. It seemed without the coolers and overfilled it ran hotter so I wanted to do an apple to apples comparison before putting the fluid level back to where it should be. I think with both coolers it will only hold a half to three quarters over stock.

So do these coolers come with a hole predrilled and tapped for a temp sensor, or did you drill and tap yourself before installing them??
