It's time to rebuild my trans 3rd gear the syncro is completely gone I've already upgraded my input shaft and haven't had any provlem with 5th gear but want to upgrade while I'm in there.

Questions:

Should I look for anything else?

Where is the best place to get a rebuild kit?

Has anyone tried this one on ebay out?

Item number: 370376970374

Not sure how to add link but here is item #

If so do you think it will handly the torque I'm putting out?

I get most of my stuff from Zumbrota Bearing and Gear, ZBAG.com. I just picked up a bearing and synrcho kit, fully splined output shaft, and other stuff. Are you apposed to putting a big input shaft in it? That would require a different clutch disk. Judging by your mods it may be a good idea. I have an NV4500 in the shop right now with a broken stock input, behind a 24 valve that just has an Edge Attitude w/Juice. Nothing else, but it tows a lot on the farm.

I use standard transmission and gear. A bearing kit is a bearing kit, the quality will be similar where ever you get it from.

MMiller: Had to upgrade to 1 3/8" input already twisted the small one off with little trouble.

I'll check these places out.

How was the the job pretty straight forward? Was there any tricks?

Not too bad of a job, just stack everything up for reference. It's been a while but, I remember a snap-ring from hell on the mainshaft.

5th gear exploded on mine, didn't come loose , just went to pieces under hard load.

I went with a dynode rebuilt from Bluementhal for a good price guaranteed to 1000 HP.
