Howdy all,

After seeing several threads about monitoring the temps in the auto trannies, I am very curious as to doing this for a manual. I have the ETH/DEE combo, but don't tow anything, so this is really a moot point for me. I was just really curious to know if anyone ever puts a temp gauge on a manual transmission, or do they ever really get hot enough to worry about them? I've never heard of any type of cooler for manuals, so maybe they don't get hot???

Thanks for the education.

Tom

Tom, you don't have to worry about the 6-speed overheating unless you developed an oil leak. Those who have mounted a probe in the 6-speed have removed the PTO cover and installed a weld-in fitting for the probe. I would say that if you go to all the trouble to install a temp. gauge, why not just add several probes and use a switch to monitor the various locations (i. e. engine oil, rear-end oil, transmission oil). A gauge gives me a good piece of mind.
