Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Strange Starting Problem

Sitting at idle yesterday before going into school my check engine light came on, checked for codes and got p1693 (companion code) truck was running a little weak on the way to school. Went to AutoZone after school and the code was "Boost sensor" or something like that, I forget the number.

Does this mean my MAP sensor is bad, or should I just clean it?

The reader said something about "low voltage for conditions".

It was pretty hot outside and ran funny but once the temperature dropped and it started raining the "Check Engine" light went off and everything seemed fine.

Whats going on? I took the EZ off as soon as I saw the light if that makes a difference in diagnosis.

Thanks in advance.

i had the same problem. you need to replace the map sensor. contact a cummins dealer for the part, they are cheaper than the dealer.

Next time just wait for the code sequence to complete and save yourself the trip to autozone. If you don't see the odometer, you're not done reading codes.
