I just bought a set of used 370 Marine injectors. The truck had run probably about 25k miles with them, and was running them until yesterday. I was wondering how I would go about cleaning them? I also heard something about using different washers to acheive the proper spray angle? Thanks guys, Buck

Let me first say I'm no expert.

I would wirebrush them with a brass or copper brush. NOT steel.

It's been a while since I put mine in, but I think you need to use the thick washer.

Call Piers, he'll know.

No experience on brushing injector tips, but I would guess brass is safer than steel.

If memory serves me correctly, its the thin washer you use to get the tip as deep as possible in the cylinder. That'll get the spray pattern in the pocket of the piston better.

I've heard Piers is no longer at PDR. Bought out and has moved on. Sad if true.

PDR the company is alive & well, I still buy from them. They are expanding into a new shop I understand. But Piers the founder left there awhile ago and is now at Pacbrake.

Thanks a lot for the responses. Come to find out that the injectors actually came from Piers, and that they are Diamond B's. Is there any difference between Diamond B's and regular 370's? Also I measured the washers, and they are . 050, roughly. Where can I get the correct washers? - Thanks, Buck

From what I've gathered, there were several part numbers being sold as "370's or diamond B's" but Piers has/had the ones that worked best with the head design that's in our trucks.

Boils down to he did more research. :-laf

Any shop that sells diesel truck parts should be able to get you an injector install kit with all of the washers in the different thicknesses you need from Dipaco. They make a kit specific for the 5. 9 Cummins. I think the number is BP-59. 000(???). Last time I bought one it was around 15. 00

Not only that, but PDR went to the trouble to pop-test and match the injectors up, so you'll end up with a more balanced set than what you'd get off eBay or most other places.

I bought a set of 370s from PDR some time ago. I have not experienced any of the reported ills associatied with 370s. No stumble or hesitation. Except that they do smoke a LOT if you get on it. Idle and running down the road is really smooth. I am still running the stock DVs with my 160 pump. There is a very slight tremble at light throttle about 1500 RPM or so. You have to pay attention to notice it. I'm told larger DVs would take care of that. Maybe I'll get some one of these days. As long as the engine is running smooth and I'm getting good mileage, I won't attempt to clean them.

I would say, get the proper thin washers and put them in. If there is a problem then clean them.
