Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Marine BHAF for '02

I'm getting ready to order a BHAF to install on my truck, and am interested in the Fleetguard Marine version (AH19004) because in one thread it was claimed that the marine version was water repellant - but there is no such claim on the Fleetguard webpage. It has also been stated that there is additional internal support for the paper filter material, anyone know for sure if that is a fact?



And finally, does anyone have a recommendation for a BHAF filter that might be in some way superior to the marine Fleetguard?

The marine BHAF is not water repellant. As you found out it does have an internal screen which makes it resist collapse should it become wet, that is why it is a marine filter.

HMMmm - as nearly as *I* can tell, that screen is the ONLY difference between the regular filter and the marine jobbie - at about twice the cost - sure doesn't look attractive $$$-wise...

What is the Outerwears part # for use with the BHAF - they only seem to have one over on their webpage, #20-1686 - is that it?

Gary, if you call them, they'll know what your talking about when you mention the BHAF, they do have several colors, red is nice.



I suspect you've read several post already so I won't do my "dog and pony" show about the proper installation of the BHAF.

Don't waste your money on the "Marine" version. I have had the BHAF for about two years, and have had ZERO water isssues. I live in Seattle, so take that for what its worth.
