Marine Diesel ?

A buddy of mine has a Yanmar YSE8 diesel engine in his sailboat. It's pretty much worn out now and he's looking to rebuild or replace it. Anybody got any leads (Internet-based preferably) on parts etc..... or a suggestion for repowering it?

Hi Jason. . Yanmar makes one of the best diesel engines in the world !! I used to sell their tractors when I had my power equipment business. They used to also build all of the John Deere tractors up to 52 HP. . probably still do ?? Can't imagine someone wearing one out however ?? I have lost track of my distributor since then, but if you follow the link below, you should be able to search out a parts and service dealer either close to you or from where you could obtain parts and a service manual !!

I'd be interested in how your buddy makes out.

if you have a problem, let me know. . a garden supply dealer up the street from me handles the Yanmar landscaping equipment and I could ask him about his distribution warehouse !!

Thanks for the info Dick... I'll pass it along to him. Not sure what was done with this engine maintenance-wise in its previous life-I'm thinking it has not been pampered which is leaving it in the shape it's in now.



Hey Vaughn-what's up with you? See you got a new truck-how do you like it? I was thinking about trading up to an '03 but my poor '01 has taken such a bashing the last month or so with the late snows etc. that I can't justify pounding a new one..... so it'll stay around for a while longer. Other than that the old girl is running well. Scott and Rod are putting on a diesel/Strongman combo event in Saskatchewan this weekend coming up-but I've gotta work so I won't be there. Rumblings of trying to get a dyno day going in the fall-but that's all I've heard about. Thanks for the info... ...
