marine engines/just curious

cummins had a 300hp (1st gen age) marine engine, right? Well, what i'm curious about is my ve is going down hill pretty fast and i'll have to have it rebuilt soon and i've heard that they used a different IP on the marine engine. I've been talking to IP rebuild shops and they all tell me the same thing that my VE will not last long at with the full fuel screw turned up as far as possible. They say it puts to much pressure on the cam and rollers? The shops I talked to said longevity would go downhill significantly after anywhere from 250hp to 300hp. I guess the short side of the question is, which pump did they use on the marine engine and is it a viable option for my first gen engine to make around 400rwhp? sorry about the "longwindyness" of the post.

6BTA M2 (300 HP)used a Nippondenso EP-9 Injection Pump. This model pump was used on the early 315 HP as well. After '96 they used the Bosch PV7100. Recreational rating's from 330 to 370 HP.

I can't remember if you need a new gear housing and gear if you make such a change.

Injection line nuts and Injectors bodies were using larger threads too. There were many changes and improvements.

I do not believe that any of the marine engines used the VE pump.

I had a 1999 rated at 270 hp and it used the Bosch 7100 series pump like the 2nd gen truck (but a little different inside). Many older ones and the standard 210 marine used a Lucas/CAV pump.

As mentioned the Denso pump was also used in many hp versions.

I do know that some of the Volvo 6 cyl diesels used a VE pump. I don't know what model number engines they were but they were rated in the 250 hp range and probably 3400 rpm.

so I guess if I want a reliable higher hp pump for my truck i'll have either p-pump the truck, swap it for a p-pumped engine?
