I have been gathering marine parts for a planned repower using a 1989 engine from a first gen truck. This followed me home yesterday. :-laf
It is a marine 210 circa 1986/87 and was taken from a boat that burned, hence all the black and melted hoses.
Boat did not sink so there is no salt water damage. Oil pan had about a quart of water in it from fire fighting, got in via the oil fill cap. Engine barred over easily, so I am suspecting the guts are ok. I may try to fire her up next week if the starter works.
I will be able to salvage a lot of marine parts off this engine so no problem recouping many times over the $300 I paid for this diamond in the rough.
I may even end up using the marine block rather than the truck block.
I will use the VE pump though and aftercool it with a antifreeze to air unit I have from a bus.
Application will be to replace a 120 Hp naturally aspirated Ford-Lehman diesel. I plan on tweaking the 6BT to approx 200/220 hp which will not be difficult.
Just thought I'd post since some have asked questions regarding marine applications in the past.
This will be one of my winter projects.
