I hope you are referring to the love affair between Ford and International that's starting to wane. It seems like Cummins is content with Dodge, at least I hope it is.



I really do think International got a raw deal on the 6. 0 Powerstroke. As most know, in International trim the engine seems to be a decent performer. Unfortunately, they let Ford "help out" with the electronics and injection system, then International gets all the blame for the failure's.

Of course I'm referring to Ford and IH. Dodge and Cummins have never had a quarrel.

nah, beef up the suspension on the srt10 sport truck, and drop in an ISBe engine with the 6 speed. make for a nice rice killer when tweeked good... :-laf:-laf

Cummins Inc. supplies diesels for Dodge. The heavy-duty Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks feature Cummins' 5. 9-liter inline six-cylinder turbo-diesel. Last month, the company signed a long-term contract to supply DaimlerChrysler.



The deal does not prevent Cummins from selling a diesel engine to another automaker, says Cummins spokesman Jason Rawlings. The company is "actively and aggressively" looking for new customers, he says.



Cummins has a variety of engines that could be used in a pickup such as the F-150. And Cummins already supplies some diesel engines to Ford for heavy-duty applications, such as medium-duty trucks.



But DaimlerChrysler might discourage Cummins from selling diesels to Ford for trucks that would compete directly with the Ram.



"We value our relationship with DaimlerChrysler," Rawlings says. "They are an important customer to us. The relationship plays a factor in our decisions. "



By the last sentence, it sounds like we won't see Cummins engines in Fords or Chevys any time soon.

Ooooh, if DC were really clever, they'd take advice from this board and either drop a 4bt into the 1/2 tons or snatch up that Detroit V6. Personally, I'd rather see the 4bt (inline design, fewer cylinders=better economy).



Imagine a 1/2 ton pickup that could putt around unloaded and get 25 or 30 MPG! People would FLOCK to buy them.

After the mess with F**D's new 6. 0 diesel I feel they should fix their problems first before trying to sell more diesel trucks.

Let Mercedes supply Ford with a small diesel. That would give the parent company more income, keep them out of the Ram and make Ford beholden to DC.
