When Martha stewart gets sentenced today her web site group will light up http://www.savemartha.com/ . There is a chat on it and it is hilarious. They open chat after every event and the martha Bashers seem to outnumber the supporters and it is really very funny. Go check it out, especially if Martha gets some time!!!!

She got 5 months prison time and 5 months house arrest. What a joke, if it were you or I we have a looooong time to think abouit our actions.

Man that site didnt open Chat. It used to be a war Zone with all the martha lovers getting ripped. Oh well at least she got something and couldnt just buy her way out, least I hope they lock her up before she gets to appeal

:D :D :D

OOOOOOH Dats NASTY!!!

I bet all those female inmates are just hoping to get Martha assigned to them

I say that she got off easy! It sounds like they've been chasing her for a long time for suspicious actions that they just couldn't quite prove. Now that they got her, the judge was lenient. She'll probably come out with a new line of striped clothing and land on her feet again.

Now, if they can just nail Kenneth Lay, I would be very pleased. Not sure why these people should be treated any different than the common criminal.

I want to be there when they nail Lay. I lost 215 big ones because of him. There went my retirement.

Ouch! Now that is the worst news I've heard all week. I am sorry you got scorched.

she only has to do 5 month but she is going to try and get it overturned, just do your damn 5 months and put it behind you.

You know what would be funny. She gets it overturned and they retry and reconvict her and the new Judge gives her 2 years to serve!

I have Met the woman back when I was running a local delivery company and I tell you after meeting her you will retract that statement REAL QUICK! :( Personally I hope she does get the smackdown that corporate playpeople like this and the enron , tyco and 22 other companies Totaling billions of dollars worth of doings truly happens. In corporate america the inmates are truly running the asylum.

To hell with a 2-standard juducial system - one for the influential and wealthy - and another for us ordinary folks...

You can bet yer sweet bippy that ANY of us here cheating/defrauding others out of thousands or millions of dollars probably would never again see the light of day...

Why should Martha or Ken be treated any differently? And if they CAN just because of reputation, what message does that send to other popular potential frauds and cheats?

She weaseled out of the more serious charges. She was sentenced appriopriately for a first time offender on WHAT SHE WAS FOUND GUILTY OF. The fact that she deserved more for her attitude and lies is not what a judge or jury is supposed to consider. Did she meet the elements of the crime beyond resonable doubt? On that charge yes. If she had fessed up right away she would have been 100,000$ poorer instead of 10,000,000$ Poorer and in jail.

I see no reason to lock white collar criminals up.

Put them to work in soup kitchens or something. Or worse, Mcdonalds.

And definately, make them pay back the people they ripped off.

Otherwise, we pay for their meals for 5 years they come back out to their millions.

But...

The only thing that seems to frighten these white collar criminals is the threat of prison... . Why else would they pay lawyers (the other white collar criminals) hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep them out of the pokey at any cost... I bet Martha would gladly pay a 1 million dollar fine to get out of spending time incarcerated.

So Sleddy, which is worse? The guy who gets caught steeling some equipment out of a wherehouse, or the guy who steels 401k's and acts using insider knowledge. Frankly, the second guy doesn't even get the pleasure of knowing who in particular he is robbing. I say, if you do the crime, you ought to pay the time.

Now, I see no reason why they shouldn't be workin' in prison though?
