I purchased a gallon of MMO today. To my surprise on the back of the jug was a small sticker.

The sticker stated this product does not comply with low sulfur fuel requirements of the 07 diesel engines.

Here is another reason for Diesel manufactures to cancel warranty service.

Low sulfur diesel $ 4. 00 gal???????????????????????

By the way using the MMO does turn my on road diesel RED

More money for EXXON

Really? How much MMO are you putting in each tank of fuel? When I drained my tank to install the vent kit the diesel was still yellow/green despite having MMO mixed in.

If one goes by the instructions on the label, they will not have trouble. If one gallon was added, this was pure folly. Have used it in the correct measure & never saw the evidence of being red in the fuel.

This stuff has been around for years and many people have used it with good results. Best to use the correct amount added on fill up.

Sounds like... (once again) a bunch of people really need to educate them selves on "red dye" and a true spectrometer test for the stuff!

Please excuse my dumb question but is mmo a better additive than say Stanidyne? If so how much do you use. Thanks in advance. 6

I buy it in the easy pour QT's... .

Keep it in the door and add 12 oz to each tank... . 3 tanks per bottle at $2. 45 a bottle... . cheap insurance for many parts-BJ

i think stanadyne is a good overall condioner-it lubes, cleans, and helps keep fuel from gelling up in the winter. MMO is primarily for lube qualities. Many will mix the two and add both to their tanks. I use a mix of MMO and Power Service. MMO's label says to add 4 oz per 10 gallons, and the PS is about the same. I mix equal quantities of both into an old Power Service jug, then add 8 oz of this mix to every 10 gallons of fuel. It may be overkill, but it's my engine. You could probably make a mix of mmo and stanadye too. i add the mmo for addditional lubing. I don't know if it cleans or has anti-gell properties.

Let's see, 1 qt=32 oz. 3x12=36

i was looking at a bottle today and it said for gasoline engine use only, whats up with that?

My jug says, gasoline, diesel, crankcase oil, heck pretty much anything with lube in it! Did you read the whole label?

You nailed it MM.

Dear TDR members,

Thank you for your interest and your question regarding Marvel Mystery Oil. You and the rest of your members can continue to use Marvel Mystery Oil in your diesel fuel. First, at the recommended ratio, Marvel Mystery Oil will not change the color of the diesel fuel because it is to dilute. Secondly, the government regulation that concerns dyeing off-road diesel fuel red, specifies both the concentration and the exact red dye to use. Marvel Mystery contains neither the specified red dye nor is it present in sufficient quantity.

We appreciate your continued use of Marvel Mystery Oil. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Marvel Oil Company, Inc.

Thanks for posting that Bill! It appears some here still need to know whats what. True some yahoo with a badge may just dunk his tube in your tank, let him do what he wants , but if I get busted for running MMO or ATF for that matter, I can gaurantee, said department will be less enough funds for a couple of new cruisers !! :D
