Mason Dixon Chapter Christmas Tree

Mason Dixon Tdc Logo's Are Ready

Keep the logo as it is with both flags.

Yohoot, you should bone up on your history. The civil war was not based on slavery.

As for your out-of-line comments - Keep them to yourself. This is not a forum for politics. They have a thread for that at the bottom of the website where all the other fanatics go.

And I don't apologize for my anger at turning this thread into a political discussion. Even if it about something that ended 140 years ago.

The war may not be based on slavery but the flag is typically is flown by racists.

You can strike me from your membership.

Yo Hoot I have to agree with jstyer on this one and I live in Pennsylvania if that matters. You should brush up on your history before you get your a s s out and show it to everyone. :-{}

In 1862 Lincoln wrote a letter stating. "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union and it is not either to save or destroy slavery. " the war was fought over unfair taxation of the South by the Northern industrial states. The South was predominately agricultural (corn and cotton) while the north was noted for its manufacturing industries. There were no Federal Income Tax laws and our Federal government was founded by tariffs and duties received mostly from the South. While the population of the northern states was considerably higher that the south, the south was paying over 85 percent of the government's income. The South exported large amounts of cotton and other agricultural products to Britain on which the federal government collected duties. The South imported manufactured goods from Britain and again was required to pay more duties. It was the South that kept the federal government solvent.

P. S. KEEP THE FLAG!!!

With the election of the anti-slavery Republican candidate for President, Abraham Lincoln, the Southern states decided they had to take drastic action in order to protect their own interests. On December 20, 1860, a secession convention met in South Carolina and adopted an Ordinance of Secession from the Union. Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas quickly followed suit. These states sent delegates to Montgomery, Alabama and on February 8, 1861 adopted a provisional constitution for the newly formed Confederate States of America. Jefferson Davis was chosen as the President for a six-year term of office. The Constitution by which the permanent government of the Confederate States of America was formed was reported by the committee and adopted by the Provisional Congress on the 11th of March, 1861, to be submitted to the States for ratification. All States ratified it and conformed themselves to its requirements without delay. The Constitution varied in very few particulars from the Constitution of the United States, preserving carefully the fundamental principles of popular representative democracy and confederation of co-equal States.

These events were to set the stage for the bloodiest and saddest war in American history.

In a conflict that combined elements of the Napoleonic Age with features of the new Machine Age, at least 600,000 Americans would lose their lives fighting for constitutional principle, sectional differences, economic self-interest, and moral righteousness.

The Confederate flag is a devisive sybol. It reminds me of the conflicts overseas... Jews/Arabs Muslims/Christians Americans/World.

We don't need that crap in our own back yard. It makes me uncomfortable when I see it. I know in my heart it is not a sign of what I am or this country is about.

You old farts need to give it up look ahead. Hell none of you even had any part in it. Like Texas and their views of succession... Go ahead leave don't let the frickin door hit you where the Good Lord splitchoo

And his secondary object? Was he successful! Thank God he was.

Remember women didn't get the right to vote until 90 years ago. I don't want to fly a flag that brings back those memories either.

yo hoot, so what your saying is i am a racist becuase i am flying my NATIVE flag? and YES i am from the south!! i am very offended at this point with your ignorance, blindness, and your understanding of the confederate flag! its people like you, YO HOOT that put a damper on the south's histroy and the men that died during that war. wouldnt you agree that is is honerable to fly a flag that men died under becuse they belived in that cause which they were fighting for? i might not know EVERYTHING about the cival war, but know enough to know that you have a total mis-understanding on the entire conflict. and futhermore i appologize to all the MDTDR members! i was only initially stating my opinion, and thought i had a pretty good idea about making two different logos.

HERITAGE NOT HATE [><]

So why doesn't the Confederate flag fly in public places? Why does it only fly as bandanas. Why are their court battles to keep it from flying?

Why are others not happy with MTDR using it? Fight with me all you want.

Put it to a vote..... don't dictate it.

Here is an example of the types of feeling the Confederate flag generates.

These feelings continue to get rekindled by flying it. Is that what we Americans are about?

Yes there are other reasons. Do a personal poll. Ask people throughout the day "What does the Confederate flag mean to you?"

The first person I asked said... . "hick, rebel, uneducated, want to continue to be a rebel than hit the road" I'll ask a few more during the course of the day and get back.

Even Hitler's troops can be honored for fighting for a cause. But was it noble?

" If there had not been the desire to maintain slavery, there would have been no Confederacy and no Confederate flag at all. The Confederacy arose from something completely hideous: the feeling in persons that other human beings should be their property ... . The reason the Southern states seceded from the Union in 1861 was to be able to preserve slavery ... . South Carolina might just as well display a bullwhip and auction block at its statehouse, because these and the Confederate flag stand for the same thing. "

If the Confederate flag symbolizes racism ,then I guess the POW-MIA flag will be next to symbolize racism since I have seen those flying also at clan rallies too during the news and such. It's not the flag ,it's the people who promote racism who abuse the flag, like guns don't kill,it's the people using them... ... . wonder how long this thread is going to last? john

and i thought the arguments/disagreements would be on letting other brand trucks in our club

i also thought that letting the membership in on decision making was the best way to do things.

did alot of assuming didn't i

with all the logo choices i posted above that will be available there shouldn't be any reason to keep arguing over the flag issue on here. if you want flags you will be able to get flags,,if you don't then you get a logo without.

only change to the logo will be MDTDC instead of TDR and MASON DIXON TURBO DIESEL CLUB on the bottom.

lets not bash each other for their personal beliefs. lets concentrate on the one thing we "KNOW" we have in common,, "TURBO DIESEL PICKUPS"

I agree with Don,we have diesel pickups all in common and he does have a good variety of decals to chose from, let's just drop the subject and start over... . john

Keep in mind changes are expected and input is welcome. Remember!... ... baby steps.

Mics

I really like the idea of having the one be a state flag for the mid atlantic states which we reside. It makes sense because since members are from different states. May also lead to additional membership growth from a demographic targeting \ geological perspective sort of thing. Put me in for 2 smalls with American flag and second being Maryland State Flag.

Good stuff guys

Rick

Wow, and to think the last time I looked at this thread it only had one reply. Well, put my vote in for keeping the flag. So be it if people think I am a hick. The last time I checked that was my decision and I as an individual don't have to care what other's think. I say it was our design since day one, so if you join and don't like it cut it off. No hard feelings from us, but don't take away from those that want it.

Of course, you could always get your own design made.

I would think any design shop could make one, or say something to Don. The down side is if it is a one of a kind production they will charge more than if they produce a large quantity.

i am with lmills, i like the two different flags on the sticker, i dont care what other people think about me or what is on my truck. if confed flag is taken off the logo, donny put my name on a few of the older style stickers if you still have some.

Donny-where you been, havent heard from you in a while. left you an $$ message, at least it is $$ for me.
