Well, this wasn't exactly how I wanted to take the truck off the road... but the Ranger fared a lot worse. Dang it all.....

Long story short (my version), me and TJ are heading South on a busy two-laner - TJ was driving 'cause I just had laservision surgery done (cool stuff). Anyways, we were coming up on an 'open' intersection (no light... yet) and the Ranger owner just couldn't wait for the other 4 cars (heading North and stopped) to make the left turn in front of us, swerved out into our lane and tried to get across before my 7000 lb Ram got there, and we basically nearly blew the bed clean off the Ranger with my right front corner. The Rangers topper landed somewhere in the field on the other side of us, and the Ranger eventually landed on its roof. My Cummins was still running like nothing happened but the radiator and intercooler and about everything else was destroyed. The Rangers frame was completely bent about 1 foot to the left and rear axle was hanging on by threads. The roof was caved in bad and almost all the glass was shattered. The Rnager driver completely admitted fault. We felt the impact but with our mass we basically blew the Ranger clean off the road and skidded to a hault, engine still running...

I think mine is salvagable without being totalled and I'm hoping the frame hasn't shifted. Won't know until insurance is completed and I get her apart. The Ranger owner is lucky he's alive. I'll tell ya folks, mass is good.

Here's some pics.

bummer

Like you said, mass is good. Looks like you need to paint the hood anyway but that is a heck of a hard way to get it done. As they say in aviation, it is a good landing if everyone walks away.

On another note, did you look at the pics of the new Dodge. Quite a bit like you intend to do on the crew. What you think the difference in price will be, maybe 30 grand.

Glad both of you are ok. That just plain sucks. :{ The good news is it doesn't look too bad. I hope the insurance company is fare !!!

Sam, I'm sorry to see your truck got tore up, that just pisses a guy off bad, at least you guys are ok and the truck doesnt appear too bad off. That engine would be great in a Chevy if it gets totalled, so things could be worse :-laf :)

Oooooo... that bites Sam..... 'course now you know how/were the phrase ... BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA... was inspired from... glad you two are ok...

Sam Glad you are ok, man that sucks about your truck. Serves rangerman right for being in a hurry, now hopefully he won't do that again and possibly tell some friends not to drive like an a#&^$#@ but hey that might be asking too much. I have had so many close calls with people in a hurry here in Colorado and some would have gotten hurt. People are stupid. Sorry for the rant I hope your sweetheart gets back on the road soon, and one of these days i'll muster the courage to visit the springs area and say howdy. Good luck Sam. Bear

Ouch!

I would expect my truck not to look quite as good as before I had my vision corrected but that's too much. Sorry, and I'm glad everyone is OK.

I found a site yesterday Mopar. da. ru. Some how someone bouced a 1/2 ton short bed into a house up to its rear axle. Things could be worse. (Once at the site, in the column on the left click on "Wrecked Rams" go to the third page) Yeah, I didn't know whether to laugh, cry or be sick looking over these pictures, some of the them are pretty graphic.

Glad everyone's allright!!! This is a perfect illustration why I have my 19 year old daughter in a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee (QuadraDrive/ABS/Airbag/#4500) instead of a Neon or other tiny car/truck!!!

Hope you can save the truck!!!

Maybe ranger boy needs to put his eyes under the "laser" (said with Dr. Evil voice) :D

Check out the pic of that ranger. There's a first gen sitting behind it. Maybe you could swap out front corners with that one. If I had to drive down into that nightmare everyday, I'd be investing in a DOR or Ranch Hand or the like.

actually, that 1st gen behind the ranger -is- mine ;) - my 93 didn't look too happy to be sitting next to that puny Ranger :{ . Mine won the battle but we both still lost the war. No fun at all, but I think his insurance will cover my damages enough to satisfy me, and I'm pretty sure I can rebuild her. Gonna be a while but I'll make it work. I checked out the frame today - looks okay, but won't know for sure until I get her apart. I need to figure out what it will cost to replace the whole front end, including radiator and intercooler, core support, and all that. What fun, eh?

TPC - See you tomorrow at the ATS event. I'm getting a ride from Trevor down here, one of the CS bubbas - he lives about 4 blocks from my house.

Man what a bummer. I got hit in December and I still need to take it to the shop to get painted and fixed. Not quite as bad as yours though. I hope the insurance treats you fair. I am glad you are both ok.

I feel your pain Sam-all too well. Good thing you all were ok... whatever you do SAVE the Truck! There aren't enough first gens in the world as it is!! :)

Sorry to hear about your rig. Good thing no one was hurt, I'm sure it will all work out for the good, for you, and your pride and joy. Keep the faith, Patrick.

Good to hear everyone is ok. My core suport was that bad or worse but about 1 day with Thor's hammer and a dolley fixed it. A new one was something like $900! :--)

kewl -

Well, good deal. Got the call today - the other dudes insurance company is going to hand me a check for $3100, plus another to cover the tow and storage. All things considered I'm satisfied with this, and it covers the broken stuff. At least I get to keep the rig, no screwing with the title, etc etc.
