My master cylinder went out/is going out.

The front brakes don't apply all the time. When they don't apply, the pedal is very low, when the do it is normal, and sometimes the pedal sinks. I'm pretty sure it's teh master cylinder. Full Fluid, etc.

Anyway. Will the Master Cylinder from a 3rd gen fit? Is it any better? or is there any better ones for the 2nd gens? I already have all the parts EGR ( Egr Perfomance Inc - Performance brakes and G2 Caliper Paint Kits ) offers for my truck. Carbon Kevlar pads, Drilled rotors, SS brake lines DOT 5 brake fluid, bigger rear cylinders, etc. etc.

Anything better available? I have been looking, but can't find much. Price is not a major factor. Minimal downtime and reliability is.

Thanks.

Merrick,

I don't know if the 3rd Gen Master Cylinder will fit or not but the 3rd Gen Brakes are a leap ahead of the 2nd Gen. That factors in the impact of the larger rotors and calibers... I have 100K + miles on mine and they still have 50% pad left and impressive stopping!

Mickey,

Yah, I was thinking about that today and I think that the biggest difference in the 2nd gens and 3rd gens are the bigger rotors, and I'm pretty sure the calipers have dual pistons.

Looking at parts on Ebay, it appears the 2nd gen and 3rd gen master cylinders are nearly identical.

I'm still looking around, I'm going to give EGR a call and see if they offer anything.

EGR Doesn't offer anything but OE parts. Ebay has nothing available for aftermarket.

I guess it's OE for me :( That's better than what I have right now though, LOL.
