Nextel-Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Check out this outrage!

Anyone seen these? www.mattracks.com

I have been looking at them off and on for about two years. I can't afford them but maybe a used set or financing!

They are very expensive! If they get some competition prices will drop but...

Anyway, they are a track system that bolts onto your studs with a gear reduction (natural with the sprocket and track).

Good traction, flotation, hill climbing, etc... I want!

10 times + for a truck. A company up here in AK used them on a Hummer (real H1) and a Ford F350. The Hummer did okay with them but the Ford broke the front suspension and steering a couple of times. It seems that the Ford front end could not handle the stresses.

The History Channel show "Tactical to Practical" just highlighted these last night. Watch for a repeat of this show.

They put that Ford (in you attached photo) head to head with a Chevy with big sand tires. THey had the two to a sand dune climb. For obvious reasons the Ford won.

Well I have a set... ... ... but on a Polaris Ranger

I bought a set new ~ $4300 delivered in Houston Texas. I use them in my extra job. I do mowing in EXTREMELY Muddy conditions. So soft is the mud, that I have lost 3 boots so far (business expense :D ). All I can say is THEY WORK. Granted, they are only on a machine that weights at most 1900~2000 lbs. I pull a large (570 lbs) brush mower (60" cut) with a 22 hp Kohler motor and so far things have worked good.

I am easy on equipment and so far have not experienced any problems. The only problem is that you loose turning radius with these things. This normally does not bother me, but at times it can be a hassle.

I have only been stuck one time with them and that was because while I was rocking to get out, I dug a hole and every time the front would start to climb (it had sides like a pond) out the rear would High center on the trailer hitch   . Overall I am happy with them, but as far as a truck application, I would NEVER turn loose someone who was hard on equipment to drive with them. They require a certain amount of driving knowledge or you will be replacing LOTS of steering parts.

email me if anyone has more questions Jim

Yeah, I go by the factory every time I go to Lake of The Woods for a fishing trip. So I've seen 'em for what it's worth. :)
