Hi All,

Just curious what the maximum boost a stock turbo can handle? How about Horse power? Im guessing that 35psi is about the max for efficiency, but since Im at that point of having enough fuel to push it to the point of disintegration, just curious if it will hold up for awhile by setting the wastegate at 38-40 lbs max?

Just wondering what they have been pushed to before failure. Of course each one is different, but would like to know where the general point of overstress is.

Before getting the adjustable wastegate, Ive seen mine go past 40 a few times, and I know that took some life out of it at best. .

Its looking like a Dodgezilla is coming on the horizon. .

Thanks!

i had mine set to 35 psi. i had an elbow that set it to 38 and it used to make a wierd whine when pulling grades. ran it like that for about 2 months then backed it down to 35. never had any issues. i wouldnt worry about 38 psi but @ 35 your safer and more efficient. i dynoed 372 with the stocker but could peg the pyro in 3rd gear empty! towing temps were about 200* cooler than what ive got now. id worry about flying parts at 40psi but im the paranoid type.

See sig for dyno #'s

36 psi max boost but the EGT's are too high.

I hit 1500 easy on the dyno.

Towing's ok but I watch the pyro like a hawk.

Twin's are on the way :-laf

Anything over 35 psi is a waste of energy besides stressing the unit out. There is just no point in pushing it higher. The extra air is to hot to provide any benefit. The Dodgzilla is a logical next step & a very good spinner for the money.
