morning guys,

i have 410's in my truck and travel every weekend on trips about 500 miles. i prefer to go about 75 or 80 on the highway to make up time. if i go that fast my rpm's are about 2300-2500. doesn't seem like i should be traveling 500 miles only 600 rpm's under the redline. is this hard on the engine? my dealer says it could probably run all day at 2500 but i don't trust him <G> ALSO... am considering a gear change because of this , are there dodge gear sets higher than 3. 73? like 3. 50 ect,

thanks all,

steve

Cummins rates the engine to run at rated speed (3200 RPM) and maximum load indefinetly. You will definetly NOT hurt then engine doing this.

Copy that, I have heard of people running in direct drive at 3000 rpms down the highway for hours, the cummins is tested for that i believe
