Max Tire size ?

How big of a tire can I go on a 16" stock rim, yet still have clearance for turning? I do have a 2" body lift, but was more concerned with the steering clearance.

I have 265-75s on stock steel rims. 2 wd, no lift, nothing rubs

I was wondering if 315"s would fit and still turn, and how wide they could be.

I was running a set of 285/75-16's on stock 2nd Gen. rims and no lift on my '92 W250. Never ran into clearance problems.

I tried swapping a set of 35/12. 50/16. 5s off of my 86 truck wich had a 4 in lift. They fit my 93 CTD fine... just could`nt turn the steering wheel! The 93 also has add-a-leafs in the front and the truck sits level. I`d say some lift is definitely in order if you want to run 315`s, my . 02

285/75's fit fine with any rub and even clear my 5" fenderwell exhaust down pipe. . heheh
