Based on recommendations found here and other online resources, I chose a MaxBrake brake controller over an inertial-based controller (e. g. Prodigy). I installed the MaxBrake yesterday. The installation went well. There were no surprises and the unit seems to work as advertised in my limited testing.

Pictures below.

Some observations:

1) The unit is much larger than I thought it would be and probably should be. The case seems cheaply made and the mounting bracket is not very impressive. I believe this thing could be half this size and made of higher quality materials. Smaller would give more mounting options as well.

2) The unit was easily calibrated and the display is clear and intuitive.

3) The box contained two different wiring harnesses and four different Tee connectors. The cable from the master cylinder to the controller seemed to be standard Cat 5 network cable that had been spliced on one end. The splice was covered partially by shrink tubing and partially by electrical tape. Not sure why, but it felt like some sort of resistor under the tape. I would have preferred the whole splice be covered with shrink tubing.

4) I had no problems installing the master cylinder tap. The included tubing was easily bent and all connections were leak free. I used the zip-tie stand-off tip I picked up on TDR to create a nice vibration mount. I drilled through the plastic plate covering the hole where I guess the clutch would pass through the firewall and then filled with black silicone.
