I was wondering what the opinion is on what the maximum temperature should be. I installed a sender in the trans pan just before my last RV trip. It peaked 200 degrees on a hot day pulling a long grade, the engine temp was also at 200. I guess having the sender in the out line will give the best reading, what should I expect there and is there a "trick" way to install the sender there? Thanks for everyones help.

Roger, with a dipstick sensor, I usually run
140 on the hwy with 70+ outside temps. Around town it can climb to 180. I hit 220 once climbing a steep grade in Nova Scotia exceeding my max gvwr.
Once you know what your normal ranges are, I don't think it matters where the sender is located. RonL

Roger,

200F in the pan, pulling a heavy load, is not bad at all. I start getting a little concerned when it hits 230-240F for extended periods of time.
