I have been looking around on the various diesel related forums and ROFLMAO. The mean-spirited children are speculating and nay-saying again about Western horsepower and the capabilities of the Dynojet. The accusations are silly and show great ignorance, but some TDR members might wonder if any are true.

The critics are thinking about other dynos that require tight strapping and a ton of weight in the bed, and cannot understand that the Dynojet doesn't need any of that stuff. For example, Lawrence told me that the dyno brake cannot hold back Sickly's engine if it is over 2000 rpm and under full power. The dyno brake slips--now, folks, that is traction! (and a good clutch) :) Everyone on this forum knows what tires I have been running since Sickly was new--Cooper 255-85-16 Discoverer LT. This is a narrow, D-rated tire, nothing special in the way of traction. Next these "uneducated" children are crabbing that the stock -181 delivery valves of the P7100 injction pump cannot flow the fuel. They are wrong, but then they have never been able to flow fuel like Scott can out of Sickly's pump, and with the stock 913 pump camshaft too. No race cam and extra fill time here. Stock lift pump and feed lines from the tank to the filter. Those who looked at the truck during the Dyno Days were bored by the lack of exotic parts (although Pius' turbo did get some attention :D ). Of course, the nay-sayers would have it that this turbo can't spool up. Well, it does not seem to achieve more than 55-60 psi. . . with spoolup about like an H2E with 17 cm2 exhaust housing. That spoolup should be right in line with that of the HX50 hybrid that Heberam blew up pulling out of the parking lot. Too bad he had to use an H2E which he said hurt his hp some.

Given a bit more time, I'm sure they will attack the other high-hp trucks at May Madness, making similar false statements.

These same folks accuse us Westerners of having a special correction factor to inflate our hp numbers. Sorry, the correction factor was only 1. 05 to 1. 06 at May Madness and most or all of that factor is completely justifiable using any scientific reasoning due to effects of parameters such as air temperature and altitude. They then shift gears and say we Westerners won't accept any other dyno results. We have repeatedly accepted the results obtained by two of their mid-western hero trucks, one the big white one with twin turbos, on the TST dyno right there in Indiana. At May Madness Mark Chapple repeated to me that both of them made 402 hp.

I never post on several other diesel-related forums as there is so much misinformation and in-fighting due to the mean-spirited antics of a few. Some of these antics are mentioned above. However, I know some TDR members look at them, so I wanted to set the record straight. It is also unfortunate that in their zeal to criticize, those few have overlooked the excellent and high hp results posted by so many at May Madness. Truly some Western trucks are making power. Twelve of them made over 500 hp; six made over 600 hp.

I'm sorry that some of this post appears negative. Those who have visited the other, virtually unmoderated sites will understand why the West is annoyed and yet understands why some children did not dare to show up and exhibit their paltry hp at MM03. 402 hp wasn't enough. 600 wasn't enough. Next year should be even tougher.
