I found this stuff by accident while building some home speakers. There are a few products listed, and I've installed the vinyl sheeting into my doors by sticking it onto the panel under the inner door panel. It was easy to form around speakers, door handle, and mirror control wiring and sticks well once ready to put in. The claims made are good news, and I can say that both my wife and I noticed a real difference in the cab at any speed. Except when accelerating and a nice sound of a diesel running well at cruise my '01 is as quiet inside as our '98 Crown Victoria. Best of all the materials are CHEAP!

Not that one, the one that reads:

"Part Number:

268-035

LIGHTWEIGHT VINYL SOUND DAMPING SHEET 27"x40" * Twice the damping and half the weight of asphalt based damping sheets * Odorless * Easy peel and stick application * The VE-1 was formulated for maximum damping efficiency over a broad frequency and temperature range. "

A friend of mine used the product you pointed to, Dane, for the lining of some home speaker enclosures and said that the smell was so bad that it lingered for days in his house. That, and the claim of double the sound deadening, is why I chose the other slightly more expensive stuff described in this paste.

KRS -

How much of that stuff did you use? The price looks good compared to some of the other stuff I've seen. I had been looking at Auralex SheetBlok. The specs look good, but it's kind of expensive ($329 for a 4'x30' roll), though there is probably enough in a roll to do 2 trucks. Auralex also makes SheetBlok-Plus that is self adhesive.

Where all did you put the stuff inside the truck?

Thanks.

Steve,

I had already put a bunch of other stuffiing, two different products, under the carpet and up the back wall but wasn't satisfied with the doors. So I used this product under all four door panels by cutting it for the speakers, door handles, and grip screws then sticking it right over the OEM plastic liner. I went in easily and the panels went back on without any sign that anything had been done. I also cut a relatively small piece to stick onto the outer door sheet metal to deadon any vibration (= sound) from there.

It works good. Except for the engine sound(s), which are muted compared to how they used to be. my truck is very quiet inside. We're both soft spoken and talk in normal tones at freeway speeds.
